Trim off as much fat and flesh as you can , Rub lots of salt on it , then add a little more. You cant over salt . Then fold flesh side in and tie with twine so it stays folded .
Get it too tannery . Moose is best tanned Hair removed . the best leather on the planet.
If you leave hair on it tends to break if you use as a rug.
good luck

Look up tanneries in your area for places to take it. There are a couple in Edmonton. Probably one or two in Calgary or the south.

Not to discredit Travco's suggestion of salting and folding, just the time frame.
Western tanneries suggests not folding the hide for 24 hours after salting.

Default No Salt

But don't salt it if your planning on putting it in your freezer, it won't freeze with salt.

If youre thinking of tanning hair on for a rug then know that the hair becomes brittle and falls out. You'll be picking moose hair off your clothes for years. Inquire at tannery's or even larger taxidermists. We use lots hides for wifes mocassins and mukluks ( hair off) and just freeze the hide quickly till taken to tannery
