On at least two occasions I have come across bellowing cow moose during the first week of Nov, in the prairie 200 zones.

Young bulls call on first week
larger bulls call on second week of oct.
Cows normally hide deep in the bush on the first week if there are young bulls around.

Who knows.
Maybe there is a sexually frustrated bull in the vicinity, or maybe there isn't.

This is not one of those do "A" and get a set result kind of thing.

Anything may or may not work on a given day in a given location.

That is why it is called hunting.

I’ve been trying both tactics for the last 7 days. Havnt has result. Had a cow talking last Sunday but silence since.

I wasn't calling at all. Was sitting in a Whitetail stand and he decided to start sounding off.

Interesting. Thanks.
Did you have a moose tag too? The few times I've tried a tree stand I got incredibly bored and tired. I guess others fight that by reading on here eh

In the last 2 trips out, we have have had a cow balling and walking but no bulls answering though. Seen a bull with a cow last night and when we split them up he seemed interested to my soft cow calls. But didn't care if I grunted or raked trees but only stood and watched. He knew we were not his girlfriend though. I suspect the cows that didn't breed may be coming into heat again.

Estrous cycle lasts about 24 days, with cows capable of up to 6 cycles if not bred. Calling can work at any time during this period.

Unfortunately this zone is now on a draw for archery too 👎

I can't sit still to save my life anymore. I end up playing on my phone until I can't take it anymore
