Oh, and bring a camera too - for after the smoke clears, of course!

Hope you have good success this year!

Stand hunt and call. I've been saying for the past few years I'm gonna do it but I've never targeted wolves and I hunt mostly alone so what's my best option.
Using a Tika 3 , 7MM08 also have a Tika 243. Best option?
If there ever was an argument for a semi auto with a ten round clip, this would be it. Your Tikas will work just fine. Perhaps locate the pack after a fresh snow and get within calling distance of them. Wolf howls have work best for me but it doesn't draw in the whole pack. Whereas a moose call might just get you 20 hungry wolves at your feet. Learning their travel routes and favorite resting spots will provide you with good hunting for years to come.

Sorry, had to.

I'm not sure I could wait over a wolf bait. The action isn't like bear baiting. Calling would be more interesting in my opinion.

Having said that, search Popcan's wolf baiting threads, very entertaining from the warmth of your home!

Yup, especially if you can catch them asleep.

Is it just me, or is that wolf actually smiling?

Nice stuff, Grizz.

Looking forward to the annual Popcan Wolf thread this year!

a 243 did the trick on this wolf. It's unlikely that you will find one much bigger. The guy holding it is 5'10" and 200 lbs.

If you get one out of a pack hold tight and wait for the rest to come back. I've had three doubles and a friend got 4 out of a pack of 5 a few years ago.

Or in the search box type "cowmanbob wolf" to see wolves.

Just sitting quietly after the first one is down? Or calling to bring the others back?

On the first two I just sat quietly. Third one was a double with my bow. She howled trying to locate the pack so I gave a soft howl back (mimicked her howl) and she came in at a high lope. The rest of the pack also came back but hung up in the alders out of sight and howled and barked at us.
