From Terry Power:

"Well Since this Video has went Viral and my phone is blowing up with messages .
I'll clearify some details . This happened Sunday Feb 25/18
1) Thank god NO ONE WAS HURT
2) This has never happened at this crossing in the last 20 years or ever.
3) The trailer got caught in the snow bank and kicked the truck sideways , they had time to try and go back and forth but truck just kept spinning .
4) One guy even jumped out and tried to push .
5) as train was getting closer/closer , the driver jumped out yelled to everyone to run clear .
6) These guys are friends of mine who come here 4-5 times a year .
7) I assume the horn stopped blowing at impact because the conductor seen everyone evacuate the vehicle safely .
So to all our friends/family please be cautious when ever crossing any train tracks espeacially with trailer in tow ."

I would love to see the video from the locomotive!

Same way they always do.. With proof of purchase. Unless the aftermarket parts caused the incident (which they didn't).

But if what OP is saying is correct, then it's all driver error. Probably a nice large fine from CP/CN.

Thank god no body was hurt though.

Armchair quarterbacking (from experience), says he was more than likely running the stop sign and cut the corner to tight at speed and clipped the bank with the trailer, probably trying to beat the train. If he had actually planned on stopping at the sign, there is no way he could've dragged the trailer into the snowbank far enough that it would get him stuck or "thrown the truck sideways" as indicated by the OP.

But what do I know..
