Default San Francisco

Good morning,
My wife and I are heading down to San Francisco in May. And I would like to know some great Restraunts with local craft beers to try. We are staying a couple of blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. Walking is not an issue because we both like to put on some miles.
Also, is there any places to visit besides the usual "must sees" (Alcatraz etc.) And any to avoid.
Any advise and ideas are appreciated.
Thanks

Everything (tourist area), is right on Fisherman’s wharf. Similar to the Calgary stampede down there. Many restaurants. Not sure if you can go on the island of Alcatraz anymore. They may have condemned the jail. There are good boat rides all along the Bay Area (include dinner, entertainment). Sausalito is neat little area north across the Bridge. Visit by boat, or bus. Check out the redwood forest north of San Francisco (3-4 hr tour).

There are many homeless people downtown San Francisco, some are aggressive. The subway system (underground), efficient. Head to Oakland for couple bucks.
Good luck

We had Pizza at a great little restaurant in little Italy, unfortunately I don't remember the name of it, but it was just up from the pier you catch the ferry for Alcatraz. and from sitting on a table on there small patio you could see the big church/cathedral if you were looking towards the Ocean.

The place had a line up, when no other ones did, which is why we picked it, our server was excellent as well as the pizza.

If Alcatraz is still open. You use to have to book weeks in advance

Fog city diner on the embarcadero! The best!!

To really class it up check out top of the mark at the mark Hopkins hotel. Old school dinner dancing and drinks.

Not craft beer centric but these restaurants were awesome. (Plus you will find lots of craft beers down there. Anchor steam dark was really tasty)

Colibri- best Mexican food I have ever had.
Saba - amazing Persian food
Slanted door - Vietnamese fusion. High end. Pretty pricey
Fishermen’s wharf - get the crab chowder in the sourdough bowl.

One of the best excursions we did was rent bikes. Cross golden gate, end up in saulsslito, have lunch. Ferry back across to fishermen’s. Cool way to see the city and cheap.

Awesome live music venue and cool little pub. . The Utah hotel. Near a sketchy area called the tenderloin. Take a cab there and back.

Golden Gate park is an awesome walk.

If you want to leave town to do some wine tasting. $400 will get you a driver who will drive you to Napa to hit 3 wineries of your choosing. If you want to do this let me know and I can make recommendations.

Have fun, one of my fav cities.

an underground tour of Chinatown would be on my list. I did this when I was a kid and all these years later I remember it as one of the highlights of my time in San Francisco, along with seeing the Giants play at Candlestick Park.

Default Lunch.

The best place you could possibly have lunch is at the Molinari Delicatessen in little Italy.

pupusas at Balompie #3. 3801 Mission. the best pupusas in the city.

Pizza Hacker is good on outer Mission.

Gaspare's about 20th and Geary. great pizza and Italian.

In North Beach, Sodini's on Green just below Grant.

In Tiburon try Sam's Cafe.. great city views.

In the East Bay the cheesecake at Nations burger chain is the best!
