Careful. A friend withdrew some money from a bank machine there. Got home to find her account cleaned out.

Friend owns property on Lake Nicaragua.

He says at times he sees 100 lb tarpon porpoising and gulping air. I itch to see it with my 11 weight.

He has also had his passport stolen 3 times there.

He is not a friend of Canada customs or US customs and is on a watch list.

It is an amazing country with some of the friendliest people I have encountered. Now to be fair that was over 15 years ago, but it was the highlight country of a three month motorcycle trip down through central america.

The bull sharks have been removed by the Japanese, so no more sharks.

Yes It is amazing. Way better the “Costalotta” (Costa Rica).
Planning a trip back ASAP ( was supposed to have been last October but it is hurricane season during that time).

The food, the people, awesome! I’m sure Costalotta was that way 30 years ago.

Unfortunately China is building a new canal through lak Nicaraugua and bringing in their own labor. Unfortunately, Daniel Ortega sold out to Chinese to line his own pockets and not to improve things for their citizens.

I spent 3wks there about 6yrs ago and it was amazing. We spent some time on the carribean side on the corn islands, amazing place super cool friendly locals and awesome food. It was rustic accommodations which is perfect for me. Then spent some time in Managua and finished off on the Pacific side I can't remember the name of town but we stayed at a self sustaining off grid type farm called finca Las nubes? Super amazing place anyways I wouldn't hesitate to go back, there was 20 of us and no one had a problem.
