Default Frozen Minnows and worms in Calgary

This will probably sound like a stupid questionbut with limited time I have to ask. I'm taking my kid out for goldeyes on the red deer river this weekend, I usually flyfish but I want to get her on some fish so I'm planning on pickerel rigs and spinners. Where do you buy bait here in Calgary. I was in Canadian tire today and didn't see anything. The fishin' hole maybe? Would like to get up and go early Sat so I need to track some down by Fri night.

Thanks.

Most Canadian tires have it (white fridge by the fishing stuff, ask the staff), Cabelas I would assume does, I usually dig my own worms. If you dig hillbilly style dig 'em 12v car battery and 3-4 foot rods with a phaser in a area you watered before a few hours.

We caught a few gold eye last weekend on the red deer.

Thanks, that was always my go to fish years ago when I lived in Edmonton. Poor kid has been getting skunked every time she goes out so I'm hoping the action is as good as I remember it to be.

The Fishn' Hole definitely has a bait fridge in the back, and Cabela's does too, although I've never bought any bait from Cabela's.

if u know of an area in your yard where it would be moist, even the lawn that's in a shaded area, to see if there's worms stick a garden fork all the way into ground and just wiggle it back and forth, make sure u are moving the ground and u will see the worms popping out onto the ground. Do it in the evening with a red color paper or plastic over flashlight as to not spook them.
I didn't believe it till I tried it.
It works.
Cabela's does have dew worms and trout worms in stock. 4.99 for 12 pk of dew worms,

Take a spade along in the trunk. There are lots of areas along the way you could flip some dirt that would have earthworms or the odd grub. Just now in the heat the earthworms will be deep. Even along the river you could flip some soil, remove a worm or three and replace the soil from where you dug.
