There is lots of hunt left in Field Bred Cockers. In Canada they compete in Field.Trials with Field Bred Springers, they even win a few trials. I hunt with friends that have them, very capable upland dogs.

I have an English cocker spaniel, pure bred and from super duper parents in Canada. This thing only hunts for snack and chasing squirrels along the fence. But he is the most lovable dog we ever had!

Yessir, our female is scientifically, specifically, empirically, completely useless, except in the LOVE department. Sweetest thing, maybe her other cousins would hunt.

Lol, yep these dogs know how cute they are and taking a full advantage!
At the same time I have to tell you that I know a guy in Calgary with spaniel who hunts with the dog and the dog retrieves birds twice the size of itself! It took him some time to teach the dog the ropes but now the dog is a machine!
