This is what we need more information, correct information is what I mean.

I know the Hutt friend I sold whole dogs to in the past had a fur buyers license. I am sure no one is getting special treatment. It's only a $100 for the license.

How many times have we seen it posted on here that people sell their coyotes to the Hutterites? I don't get it.
Do you suspect that some Hutterite colonies do not have a Fur Buyers license and if so which ones and why?

I have a fur buyers licence and it must be displayed in my garage. The licence is $100. and F&W must do inspections on all building that the fur will be in. You have to keep a record of all purchases and send in monthly reports on purchases.

Just re-visited this thread and on closer reading it states that the person buying the coyote must insure that the person selling it is "authourized" to sell it. In other words, it is not legal for just "anyone" to sell a coyote to a buyer.

Does anyone know how a deer hide or cape fits in to all of this. Is it considered the same as any other trapped animal or is it in a different category since they are often just thrown away anyways.

Deer are not a fur bearing animal. They are not covered by the trapping regulations.

Its very simple

there are 3 legal ways to get a unskinned coyote from someone in Alberta to skin/send to auction

1) You can be gifted a legally obtained coyote

2) 100$ yearly fur buyer licence (Class 1) allows for you to buy a legally obtained coyotes if the person brings it to the location on your license
ie) you CANNOT go to the sellers location and 'pick it up' from them if you buy it under this license, this license does not allow you to transport purchased unskinned coyotes

3) 500$ yearly fur buyer license (Class 2) allows you to travel to the sellers location and buy and transport a legally obtained coyote

to get either fur buyer licence you need a place such as a stand alone garage/shed/workshop not attached to your house that will be inspected by F&W before they sell you a licence

so if you only have a garage attached to a house in any interior or exterior way, you will be denied from buying either 100$ or 500$ fur buyer license

If you get a coyote from someone in a way not listed above, it is illegal and you can be charged with fur trafficking
