Reality check time. Has anyone, regardless of the way thy stored, ever had a firing pin spring break? If yes, how did you store? Let's see how much of a problem this really is.

Related fun: How many leave the bolt on their semi-auto rifle or shotgun open? Same issue?

Always follow the manufacturers recommendations

Has anybody ever found in a guns owners manual what they recommend ?

I have never looked and for all I know, I'm doing it wrong. I always uncock what I'm shooting at the end of the day. After I clean the gun as well. I try to leave springs as close to natural rear as possible. It's not really because I think they'll wear out, but more because of a stored energy thing. What's going to happen if all of your other safety checks have been done? Nothing. Make sure it's unloaded and go from there.

I've never unboxed a new gun that was uncocked,what's that tell ya?
