The .308 Win has never been interesting to me. I wouldn't own one personally (not that it is bad just not interesting to me).

Taking corealis effect into account,if you launch a .308 150gr at 2800fps and 27MOA angle directly westward from sea level, and launch the same 150gr bullet from a 30-06,with 60MOA elevation,at 2950fps directly eastward from 1150m above sea level, assuming both bullets are identical with a BC of .420,then.........er.......wait.......nope.....sti ll not true.

Wow....so much disrespect here for 30-06.
It's been thumping every and all species of North American game with authority for 110+ years now, possibly only rivalled by 30-30 Win for all time total tags filled?
No worries fellas, nothing to be ashamed of,Magnumitus affects 7 outta 10 men over the age of 39,consult your physician and ask if Cialis is right for you.If not,by all means, buy a bigger gun, chics dig it.

Again, any 30-06. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with it, but there isn't anything exciting about it either.

I also can't get behind anything Savage. I know, I know they are good shooters. Just something about them that I will never spend my money on, hard to trust them.

Add in any WSM

To each their own
That's funny, up until many people knew my gun was a savage they said it was the best gun they have ever shot. They thought it was a sako or kimber. It's a lightweight hunter with a Burris scope lol.

That's not true IMHO. The 45-70 is probably responsible for more animals killed anywhere in the world as it was a favorite of buffalo hunters when they culled down about 150 million buffalo in a 15 (?) year period.

I'm not interested in any of the 30 cals unless I was to get a smoking deal on a Garand... But I'd still probably convert it to something else...

7.62x39 is a 31 cal, btw...

Never been a fan of the 303 brit. Too much German in me I guess....

Anything with Remington stamped on. Just can't stomach owning a gun from a company I can not respect

For everything other than grizzly bear hunting inside of 500 meters, 308 win does it pretty well in a perfect sized cartridge. 45 grains of powder in a 2.8 inch package launching 180 grains 2700 fps. Anything else is different in a way that i dont see the differences being worthwhile. If that is fine with someone else then good, but 308 win is all i need in a centerfire rifle.

^this. I pretty well agree entirely. For reasonable distance and Albert's game animals. Different calibers for PRS and long range, but if you need an all around excellent hunting cartridge the .308 just gets it done!

6.5 Creedmore. Don't know why, just don't see any advantage over the .260 Rem or 6.5x47.

Probably wouldn't buy a .270 Win either.

x2, x3, and x4... The parent company gave way too much money to Obama. He can use that money as he wishes after he leaves office in 3 days.

Plus, anything new needs the action to be ground right out of the box...

That being said, for experiments, I'll buy used ones from gunshows, etc...

Have you also sworn off Barnes Bullets, Marlin Firearms, and groceries at Safeway as well?

Not sure still debating, yes since Remington took them over, and I haven't been in a Safeway for about 10 years.

The parent company of Remington is Freedom Group Wich in turn is currently managed by Cerberus Capital. Cerberus owns over 50 businesses and conglomerates. Including but not limited to Realastate, Grocery stores, Telecommunication, Airspace, Drug Companies ECT. It is amazing who owns what these days.

Same as Tetley Tea is owned by the same people that own Jaguar and Land Rover (Indian Company Tata).

I've never really seen a need for any magnum, but to me the .300 Mags in particular are like Tapout shirts, lifted duallys, and chrome testicles for you truck.
Ha I was at a range getting ready for hunting season once and this short pudgy guy walked in and it was pretty clear that it was his first non-restricted he had ever purchased and he made sure to let me and my buddy know he had a 300 mag at one point he held up the bullet and said "Look at that size of that bullet" it took a lot to not let him see me chuckling after that. Me and my buddy had a pretty good laugh in the car afterwards.

I owned a 243 once, then I turned 13,,,,I will never own another or a 308, I have lots of reasons for the 243 but no real good ones for the 308, just dont like it as Ive had more than a few 30-06's and anything a 308 can do, a 30-06 can do better,

And round lead balls out of muzzleladers were killing game animals much longer than that. Being older doesn´t make a cartridge better.

Don't plan to have anything WSM or XXNosler.
I was careful not to say "never".

It most certainly does. It is human nature to design a better mouse trap and after a hundred years the 06 cartridge is as relevant today as any modern design.

Muzzle loaders, bows and arrows, sticks and stones are irrelevant to the conversation.
