Best Brookie fly
I developed this fly over thirty years and found it to be the best fly for brook trout, which we always called mud trout, easy to tie , wouldn't hurt to have a couple in the fly case----I put on fishing only by mistake there it gives a description of materials needed--Mud Trout---Size 12-14 over all best size, of course I was fishing a three fly rig--not legal in AB.

That's news to me,,,, Many anglers in Alberta often fish three nymphs together at a time.
The following is directly copied from the current angling regs:
General Sportfishing Restrictions
It Is Unlawful To:
...Use a line in angling equipped with more than three hooks (e.g., three hooks, or three single-hook lures, or one three-hook lure)....

It is legal to use 3 flies in AB. Years ago, I had conservation officers check the barbs on my 3-fly rigs.

Muddler Minnow has been a good one for me. Silver seemed to produce better than Gold.

Sort of looks like a March brown, are you using it in lakes or rivers or both?

Lakes and rivers---But I found it really good on a windy day trolling---The end fly a simple black gnat, some days very good the middle fly a green body brown tail and hackle, With teal duck segmets for wings---the idea was to present three different colours- brown --green ---black.--The rig well tested, I actually ran a 4 hr johnson until it was worn out that took a few years.
