Default Stain Shake or Steer

Have some left over stain from house building 4 years ago
Its been sitting in the basement and have project in mind where I could use that stain again
Read somewhere that it should be shaken and also that is better just to steer it
Any painters here to help ?
Thanks.

Not sure why you would want to castrate a can of paint? Myself i would just stir it up well and call it good.

I imagine that you could take the stain back to wherever you bought it and ask them to throw the can on their shaker for a couple of minutes...maybe pick up a new brush or 2 in appreciation.

If you decide to stir the stain, you should only stir it clockwise. Stirring this way helps eliminate bubbles, as you are stirring with the earths rotation, and not against it. Hope this helps, good luck.
