I'm not a big fan of the laminated look in general although some find it quite appealing. I'd rather have crappy black plastic.

There have bee a few fugly weird stocks come out in the past few years. Not just a Savage issue.

My thots exactly Nationwide. Alberta Bigbore has been known to be fond of ugly guns. He once owned a Mossberg 4x4 by his own admission and let us not forget the famous Rem 710. He devalued my truck by $5000 after he brought that fine piece of weaponery hunting in my truck.

Oh, I don't know if it's that ugly. At least it doesn't have the barrel nut..... or does it? I'm too distracted by all the helter skelter lines.

as for John, you know that that 710 increased the value of that FORD, and dont forget we used it to pry it out of the mud, as the FORD just couldnt handle the offroad. ....and hey, i lost my tent peg and camping season is upon us, can i borrow your weatherby as a substitute? thx.

okay girls...
settle down

copridude...that is one sweet bumblebee stock !!! i wish they were available for the centerfires...maybe skelotnized lams cant hold up to the bigbore pounding??
actually i dont really mind the item in question, maybe if had a tuned 1022 under the hood it would smell better instead of that gawdawful ramhorn clip and some bolt action thing adoodle...those get boring after 400 rounds in the gopher feilds

You haven't seen ugly, till you've seen the Mossberg 4x4 Seems to shoot like a damn though. Would post a picture, but I'm happy my computer is letting me get this far and I don't want to tempt it.

Default Mako

Geez Mike I'm hurt. I saw the Mako and thought it was pretty neat looking, so I bought one. That comb is very high and had to use some high rings to get my head near the scope. I don't think that the design is Savage, because it isn't on their web site.An outfit named Talo is the USA distributor for the gun. Quite amazing how thick the stock is on this rifle. Have only shot it once and haven't found its favorite ammo just yet. Had to reset the Accutrigger a couple of times, because it would lock up at the lowest possible setting. Works fine now. FS

I think Mike likes it and is testing the waters to see if he has any support. I don't mind it.

Default Mako at the range

Had this ugly looking rifle to the range today( according to some?) it shot very nicely. The high comb does take some getting used to. Tried a variety of different ammo and the American Eagle 38 gr seem to group the best. FS

New guy here.
I bought one a few months ago. When I saw it and held it, well it just fit, and I had to have it. I'm a big guy and the dinky plastic stocks felt like toys and I didn't like them at all.
I have probably shot a thousand rounds through it and still love it, and its more accurate than me. Plus Savage rifles are made in Canada which was a surprise. I actually read the small print on the barrel.
I bought a Ruger Mini 14 target rifle also and found that the ammunition and noise made it not so much fun to shhot in the back 40. Pretty accurate though. From all that I have read the Mini 14 is not known for its accuracy.

Anybody know where I could buy some bulk .223/5.56 ammo?

I got it in RD for 600. Came with scope and case.
I buffed the stock with a fine sandpaper and put a can of spray laquer on it, and its pretty. Much better than the stock finish.

What do you want to know?
I live west of Blackfalds and shoot at targets in the back 40. Lots of fun. Unfortunatly killed all the gophers last year.
Sportsmen Den in RD is where I got it.
Looked at the print on the barrel and rifle was Mmade in Canada and imported by Savage Arms to the US.
I really wasn't sure what you were looking for. Sorry.
