Lithium batteries, where to buy?suggestions.
Lithium batteries, where is the best place to buy? I need them for both game cameras and my Foxpro. Are there rechargeable lithium AA batteries? Is there a better option?

I used to buy the blue no name ones off ebay. About a buck a piece. Way cheaper than new and lasted a long time. Buy in bulk packs of 50 or more

Best place I have ever found was Battery Junction out of the states. Unfortunately they can no longer ship via USPS so I switched back to Duracells from Costco. They will however ship via UPS if your willing to deal with them. I cant comment on the total cost now but I will vouch for the service from Battery Junction.

Walmart has energizer lithiums. They were $18 for 12 i think last time i bought them. My two game cameras actually lasted longer with regular name brand batteries.

I am also looking for cold-weather reliability. I believe lithium batteries will excel at this.

That was my experience as well. I find AA and AAA lithium batteries store better in the cold but dont last as long while under a load when they are cold.

Yes i believe they would last longer stored in cold but i found when used they didnt last any longer. Or any amount that i could justify the extra money

If anyone is looking for some good winter trail cam batteries.. these dont freeze like alkaline when the temps drop to -30
Best deal on Lithium AA I have found to date..
I believe this deal ends today or tomorrow,Im not sure. might be worth a trip today.
London Drugs 4 pack lithium AA batteries Regular price is 9.99. if you buy more than one pack they are 50% off. Essentially buy 1 pack get one free. Brings the cost down to $1.25 per battery.
Even the 12 packs at Walmart for $18 dont come close to that price.

I've been using Amazon basics NiMH for years. There not lithium but fair very well in the cold. I used them for yotes in my FoxPro in the dead cold and for ducks in the roboducks in the chili fall. At 1/4 the price of high end lithium no need to worry about loosing them either. This is my 6th year using them and still haven't had to change them during a sit.

For my foxpro i use just cheap lithium batteries and then stick a toe warmer pad to the outside of the battery compartment when im hunting on those extra cold days, so far its worked pretty good.
i got the idea from another AO post!

I gave up on using AA batteries in trail cameras long ago.
Have been using external batteries - either sealed lead acid or "gel cell"
The cheapest among them have more than enough amp hours to run my camera for more than a season on a single charge.
I keep the battery in a plastic "bullet box" so it is sealed from the elements. Use a black box and place on south side of tree so the sun keeps it warm and it never seems to freeze.

Heads up for all trail cam hunters.. Lithium battery deal is on again!
Shoppers drug mart flyers shows 12 packs of lithium AA for $13.99 deal only runs until the 14th
If you go to home depot and show them the flyer online, they will match the price and beat it by 10%. That should drop the price down to an incredible $12.60 for a 12 pack.

I'm not sure how the Lithium AA batteries work on low draw items in the cold, but I can talk about how well they last in my headlamp in the cold as compared to warm. Cold use was less than half the time of full brightness as compared to warm. Eneloop Pro batteries were almost lasting as long in the cold, and for the money can be recharged many times.
Generally, on high bright with my headlamp, around 2.5 hours is normal with the Eneloop Pro warm. Around 2 hours in the cold. Lithium would give me about 5-6 hours in warm weather, and around 2 - 2.5 in the cold. Cold was dark outside and about -30C. Warm is above +10C.
Now, I got longer low light out of the lithium after the light reduced from bright than I did out of the Eneloop Pro. The max light level produced is based on voltage in the light. So, as the voltage drops, the light goes into a dimmer and dimmer mode.
Again, if a trail cam is low draw, that may not be your experience.

Lithiums generally arent effected by the cold like alkaline batteries are. so they do work into colder temps. Also the way a Lithium discharges is that it stays at close to full voltage until it goes dead. There isnt a huge curve of drop off in voltage like an alkaline battery etiher,,
