Default Boy's first deer

So in early May my 12yr son was asking about getting his hunting license, so looking into it we decided he wanted to go to the AHEIA camp at alford lake. So summer comes he does the course he does very well gets PAL and hunting License. Fast forward Saturday we are surprisingly shopping for camo clothes, he asked when we going hunting, I tell him Sunday, he is super pumped so we get him all geared up. Sunday comes I wake him up 4am leave the house at 4:45 we drive up to a buddies place just north of sundre pick him up, and head out 7:00 am. We drove for about 30 mins find a place to pull over, walk to a spot buddy has been setting up(made a shooting shelf out of logs under a big spruce tree very well covered). As soon as we get set up a good sized doe walked into the clearing so he was pumped, he had it lined up ready to take the shot, my buddy however told him just to wait a few so he did. About ten minutes of watching the doe she walked down a hill and lost sight of it. So buddy starts grunting with his bugle out pops a spiker and has a look around for the grunting. My boy took up aim 220 yards and let the shot go....My buddie and I are watching through the glasses and sure as s*&^ he dropped it with one shot...We backed the truck to it threw it in the back of truck and were back at buddies gutting it by 8;45am..
Was a day I wont forget and by my boys smile he won't either...
Oh ya now I gotta keep hearing " now when you getting yours"

Big thanks to the group at Alford lake they made the experenance something the boy and I won't forget....

That's awesome. I'm sure if I was there it wouldn't do me much good peering through the binoculars as I'd be vibrating too much from the excitement
Great job and great story.
Any pics to share?
