This year a dream came true for me. Since 1993, when my grandfather got his Grandmaster award from the Alberta Bowhunters Association, it was always my dream to accomplish that.

On my quest for 6 different species of Pope & Young animals, I only had 4 animals and need 2 more, and a Black Bear was an animal that I didnt have.

This spring, a good friend of mine was running some baits and invited me up. He had some amazing bears on camera and I was excited.

The first evening, we had 12 bears come in but nothing we were looking for.

We decided to try a morning hunt and an hour after we got in the stand, this big fella walked in. A 19 yard shot and a 30 yard recovery and it was all over.

The arrow went through and hit the off side leg. The Black Widow Innovations Widowmaker broadhead broke the off side leg in four pieces and looked like new still.

He is a 7 foot bear and green scored just a touch over 20"

I'm very excited to say the least.

Default 1st AB Gobbler

After 13 years of putting in for a draw the hunt was over too quick. I think we sat in the blind for a total of 20 minutes.

Great bear! Way to go on 6 P&Y critters from 6 species! Good accomplishment.

Congratulations Remmy300.

To get a turkey with a bow is hard enough but to have to wait first
for a draw across years to even get a chance!

Again I say congratulations that's a fine bird without a doubt many
long lasting memereys to enjoy and pass on.

To see a picture of a nice tom turkey taken in Alberta right along with
the elk and the mule deer and whitetails and moose and bear.

Is a heart warming thing to see. Wildlife expanding but not invasive.
Hope fish and game persues and premots this idea.

One of the right things to do stock more turkeys and lighten up the
draw.

Default May 13th

On May 13th I was lucky enough to harvest this bear. A true giant with a white blaze, a dream bear for me. He green scored 20 2/16.

Also please disregard the facial expression in the first photo. I was neither high nor pooping..

-lets see some more photos people, I always love this thread.

Cool

Here’s my Alberta giant. Was fortunate enough to do a hunt with Gooseslayer... bear weighed 385 lbs, has a 20” pumpkin, and the hide squared 7’2”.

KyleSS,
Congrats on another magnificent beast with archery tackle.
Impressive performance by the broadhead.

Sorry for the three posts but I felt each response deserved their own.

No kidding. Hard to believe the sheep and archery season have been open for 2 full days now in the north and not a single harvest report or picture in a hunting forum. A million posts in the general section though...

Sounds like lots of critters have dropped. By the sounds of all the gun shots I’ve heard out bow hunting
