Default Newell Boat Launch

Heard that people have had problems launching at the park launch because of low water. Is this true?Heading there on Thursday, any help would be great.

Its true, there's a large gap between the concrete blocks on the ramp. There is a other ramp at the boat club, but its a very shallow ramp. couuld be tough if your launching by your self.

So once I have launched, how is the rest of the lake? I was told that there are alot of dangerous spots now. Was also told to launch maybe at the marina in the subdivision to the north. But was also told to get into the main lake it could be very shallow.

Don't bother attempting to launch @ kinbrook. Go to the north end and use the launch @ the resort. You should have no problem getting out to the main lake, the water does get shallow on the way out but stay in the middle of the channel and trim your motor.

I'd get a Bathymetric map of the lake for sure. If the level is that much lower than when I was last there the channel that runs down the middle of the coulee near the subdivision (marina) won't have much beter than 6 maybe 8 ft at certain points. Heck when I was there in June I couldn't find beter than ten feet in that channel. And when I went back in August the level was a solid 2-3 feet lower than in June. Hope you have a bow mounted depth sounder.

If your right in the channel you should be okay. I'd agree that the Marina is the place to launch. There is another launch at the dam/north outlet but when I was there in August we had to back my 4X4 right into the lake to get the boat off the trailer. I wouldn't even bother with kinbrook enless you can hand bomb your boat.

Good luck.
