We have guesses ranging from 250lbs up to 375 lbs.
If we're out the having fun & we see a bear we like let'em have it. Sure it's nice to get a big bear there's no doubt and sizing them up can be really tough at the best of times. When I saw this one in the trailer the first words that came outta my mouth were "OUFF that's a big pig" lol. No ground shrinkage there
When a big bear comes out there's no guessing or sizing or anything. It's an instantious WOW moment, you start praying you can get a shot and do all you can to keep from trembling.
BTW LC that's heck of a bear.
I thought my biggest one was 400lbs he turned out to be 317 lbs.
Been a slice fellas have a great summer we'll catch you on flip flop
Bye for now.

Wow. Never would have guessed that heavy from the first few pictures you posted. The pictures you just posted with the weight of 444lbs are better pictures to judge size. That thing is an absolute tank. Congrats to the hunter.

Yup that’s a keeper! Beauty, looks like a nice hide too. That’s partially why I shot mine he was so black he had the “blue” halo around him on the light. If you have seen it you know what I mean.

Everyone wants a 7’ bear until the rug taxidermy bill comes in and they wish it was 5’

Jason and Manfred at Alberta Taxidermy in New Sarepta. They are probably the most experienced with bears in Western Canada, give him a shout for a current price list. I went with a mouth closed mount.

Can confirm! Have had 2 bears taken care of by these gentlemen and they will be doing my next one as well. They do excellent work and fairly priced in my opinion.

Got some trail cam footage of the Big guy for those of you that are interested. He was hot on her trail by the looks of it which is what ultimately let to his demise. It had no audio so I added a little. Felt good to do a quick edit it's been a long time
Figured he'd have a bigger head. Little pin head for the size. OL Red... lol
PS only house phones out there no service.

The head is in a freezer so we'll see. We measured him from nose to tail @ 6'8" ... 80 inches.
