Default UCP to upgrade irrigation in Southerm Alberta

Sounds like they are going to fill in all the canals and ditches and put the water underground. This will take away waterfowl and some upland bird habitat for sure.

Keep an eye on intact native range. This is going to be attractive again to plow down native grrasslands

Exactly what I was wondering...200,000 acres of new water rights, where will these be? There’s very little dryland in my district so that just leaves raw prairie...aka the public land I hunt on. Personally not a fan of this move.

Far as I know, just about all the water rights in southern Alberta are allocated. The race track and abattoir at Balzac were both sidelined for years because the developers couldn't access water.
