He is dividing the total deaths (258) by total case (99,347) to come to 0.00259.
Not sure how the total cases include both, confirmed cases and the total estimated, which already include confirmed cases. It’s two different counts, obviously.

WHO, Canadian Government and CDC definition ......
IFR is the ratio of deaths, attributed to SARS-CoV-2 divided by the number of actual infections with SARS-CoV-2.
There is nothing wrong with my reading comprehension at all.
I can also do simple mathematics and I have the ability to clearly see the utter nonsensical BS that people are feeding to those who blindly repeat dribble without thinking about it.
Real easy ........ grab a calculator.
PS ........ it matches the same numbers that are being reported worldwide, by credible scientists, governments, and both in the US and in Canada and that number seems to have dropped and stabilized but it's around 3%
Check the WHO, CDC or Candian Government's own website ........ er ...... no wait .......... use a source from twitter or some guy from the internet ........ nevermind ........ lol

Using serology estimates???
Oh ........... I see ............. if we ESTIMATE that less that 1 out of 5 people who get it will be tested and confirmed to have had it ...........
I really won't get into it and derail yet another thread on the same topic because people will believe what they want to believe and drink up what they want to be served.
No point.

This reminds me of the other night when a jackrabbit did a backpedaling faceplant while running in front of the truck for no good reason.
Silly rabbit.

Of course you have to use estimates, unless of course you believe that every single person who has Covid was tested....

Post #32 defines the measurement. He is not using that measurement consistent with how the scientist and infectious diesease specialists are defining it - that was my point. You missed it.
Honesty - it doesn't really matter.
Some people will hide under their beds and believe the sky is falling.
Others will exclaim hoax and minimize the severity of the disease.
The bottom line is, you don't want to get it, or have anyone in your family get it. It can be serious and fatal. It's killed a million people already and we have an estimated 40+ months before "herd immunity" has been established.
The roll out of an effective treatment, and availability to the public of this treatment, likely a vaccine is likely still 12+ months out before people have access to it and there will be more deaths in the meantime.
I live my life, go out everyday, eat out occasionally, go to public places, but I wear a mask in public and do my part to minimize the risks for myself, my family and those around me - no big deal.
The point was there is so much re-packaging of data that's it ridiculous. This is a perfect example of selective statistics that do not match the definition. It's misleading to those that do not understand why serology can't be used in this context.
Either way - no point in arguing here really - make up your own mind on what you want to be fed from whom.

The United States has as of September 28, 7.12 million cases of covid and 204,756 deaths. That does not add up to a 3% death rate or am I wrong?

It's pretty close. 3% of 7.12M is 213,600.

But Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the 2nd wave was a foregone certainty...
It is actually difficult to find the case and death number on either a weekly or daily basis. The info can be skimmed off graphs, charts, maps, etc. but I have not yet found a simple calendar of numbers.
I have looked at the government of Canada numbers. They show cases increasing daily, yet death rate is staying consistent at 0-5 per day. YES, cases are rising. NO, the death rate is not rising. If you omit the original spike in deaths which affected the most vulnerable, then the death rate is relatively low.
from sept 24th
"According to forecasting, between 143 900 to 149 250 cumulative cases and 9 200 to 9 280 cumulative deaths are expected by 26 September. We also expect to see an increase in the number of cases reported per day from 680 to 730 cases during the period from 11 September to 26 September. During the same period, the reported number of daily deaths is expected to remain stable at an average of five or fewer deaths per day."

Are we using hydroxychloroquine to treat cases in Canada or Alberta, or is it not allowed?

Yes, it is - right around 3% in the US.
Good news it's down quite a bit (was 8%-10%) in the US and Canada early on - but we are learning how to mitigate secondary illnesses and clinically treat this now much better.
This is pretty much in line with the rest of the world as the first wave finishes.

You can't use the test rate, because it's unreliable. You need to use total population to get your numbers. Most of the population in hard hit states have probably been exposed to the virus now, and built partial immunity. So take the total population of a hard hit state and use their death rate to get your numbers. Using this method gives consistent results which will give you predictable numbers for our worst case scenario.

Kids have been back in school for 4 weeks, and nothing. Not surprised

Do they take into account the fake deaths and add in the millions who have contracted it but haven’t reported it because they didn’t know they were sick?

1 million with a population of 8,000,000,000
Wowzas.
We're all going die of something, chances are pretty slim it's gonna be of the vid. Far worse "diseases" to worry about than a dose of rona. Let's not lose sight. Perhaps maybe focus a little more on them actually.
We get it. Some of you are scared. Do what you feel you need. Do it without feeling you need to incite fear. Self isolate. Wear your mask. Whatever makes you feel better. No one thinks less of anyone for doing it.......except those that wear a mask in a vehicle while alone. That's kinda creepy.

That’s a big issue down here. We find out more every day it seems about hospitals reporting falsely. A big part of that problem was the government telling hospitals to take fewer people, elective surgeries for instance, and designate great amounts of space for covid patients in great numbers which in most cases didn’t happen. The government promised to compensate for covid victims. That scenario tho well intended was bound to be abused financially from the get go.

I don’t see how there is even a basis for a math argument here. It’s been widely reported that Covid is thrown on death certificates, even when Covid clearly wasn’t the culprit. Right from the top of the chain in the medical fields. Are people not reading this in the mainstream news!???!
Closer to home: We’ve had a forum member testify on here that their family was ASKED if they wanted Covid on the death certificate. We had another member say their loved one was labelled a Covid death and they fought to have that (false) cause of death changed.
so just how many legit Covid deaths are there? Facts are- we’ll never know the full truth.
Graph that data!

I am so sick of it. It's like, there is some kind of agenda to try and keep everyone freaked out, and the media and government are complicit. But that couldn't be.

Our MSM should 100% focused on our morally bankrupt Federal Liberals. They should be relentless on the quest for facts and this also applies to the Conservative Party..'bout time to hold this corrupt government's feet to the fire... Anyone remember the DUFFY kerfuffle over a $60,000 mortgage?? The LIBS had their hair on fire

I'm not going to discourage or mock people who have lost loved ones to a "fake death". People are dying who have contracted the virus and it's sad actually.
As far as over reporting, the same could be said about under reporting it. This story is rampant in both camps. It's ridiculous.
This covid thing has done nothing positive for any of us and the media is eating it up.
