Don’t understand why people r scared of carp
Invasive species blah blah.
Are we also invasive species to this land? And it turned out a great thing?
Carp is delicious by the way, better than walleye in my point of view and the only problem is too much bones.

Nobody is scared of having another new fish to catch. Everybody is scared that in ten / twenty years That’s all there will be are carp as they will have munched up all the eggs from our native fish.

Only possible positive that could come from these carp is a food source for pike & walleye along with any other species that may prey on them. I don’t see these carp ever being a popular fishery
Only thing for sure is it will change the ecosystem and have a large impact. I would not jump on the doomsday theory that these carp are going to destroy all other species.
Look at the positive results goby have had on small mouth in the Great Lakes and cross your fingers similar results happen in Alberta. Maybe if luck is on the side of Alberta’s fishermen we could see some huge fat pike out of this mess
Still would have been best if the carp were not in Alberta’s waters

Much like the carp, the human migration to Canada might have been a great thing for those of us who did the migrating, but also like the carp we have been very hard on many of the native species of flora and fauna.
I think you more or less summed up why carp are a problem in your own post. But yes, I am sure that the carp invasion is very good for the carp.

How many times do humans have to re-learn the same thing. I guess thats why we have to have laws, cuz as they say, "common sense isn't that common"......
Saw a few hundred tearing up the lake bottom yesterday, I guess it's time to get the bow out and do my part.....

Never a more obvious troll post than this. Post and sit back in your chair in some Russian troll farm and smile.
Crazy how so many Facebook, Twitter etc accounts came from troll farms.

Troll or clueless - either or.
On another note would the carp be able to survive the cold temps? I thought they needed warmer water?

I was in the bow in bowness the other day and there was some sort of suckerfish at the bottom in a pool near where i was fishing, I'm from BC and not so familiar with the fish here, it had a suckerfish snout on it and was dark, got almost close enough to take it by hand, was around 16" long.
Anyone tell me if this was carp? It was not shiny or white at all, maybe a little lighter on the belly.
Also, is this something I can keep and eat? Not on the list of fish on the gov site.

It's impossible to tell you what it is without a detailed photo. It sounds like it was a sucker. If so, you're welcome to keep as many as you'd like.

If you don't understand, then, simply put, you are making a conscious choice to be ignorant. Grade 9 science students can explain it to you. smh.
