Exclamation Airdrie: Hit and Run - driver hit child

Okay there are so many sets of eyes and ears here, I thought I would mention this.
This is unacceptable. The culprit needs to be caught!

Airdrie police are looking for a driver who "made an obscene gesture" after hitting a girl crossing the street.

Two girls, both 10 years old, were walking their bikes through a cross walk when one was hit by an older model GMC truck.

"The truck was being operated by a female who appeared to be using a cell phone. The driver made an obscene gesture at the youths and continued driving," Airdrie RCMP said Friday.

"The victim was not seriously injured in the course of this collision, sustaining only minor bruising."

The incident happened on May 26 and about 6 p.m. at the corner of Meadowbrook Drive and East Lake Boulevard. The truck was travelling in the eastbound direction on Big Springs Way onto Meadowbrook Drive.

The driver is believed between 18 and 19 years old with brown shoulder length hair, police said.

Police, who are looking for the driver and any witnesses, ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
