Default berger vld hunting

Does anyone have any personal experience with the performance of Berger bullets on big game?

Work well on buffalo but you might look for a tuffer bullet if your going after big Alberta bucks were a tuff shoulder shot could be encountered.

Works well on buffalo but not tough enough for deer? That's a first.

I have used them yes they work Veary well. I use them for what they are intended for long range hunting. Having said that I find that hornady A-Max a better bullet. If your looking to use them on deer you will have no problems deer are not hard to kill. And yes I have personly seen a buffalo fall to a VLD.

Worked well for me the last couple of years, a couple rams, several deer, elk and moose. Like any bullet you do your job and it will do yours.

i tried the 140gr in my 7mm mag last year for the first time, very accurate, better groups than the SST's that i normally shoot, shot a WT buck thru the vitals at just over 400yrds, bullet passed thru, deer jumped a fence and went mabey 50yrds and piled up!!

Default Berger VLD's

i've been using them for 4 years now, from gophers to moose
best bullet with clear line of site around.

17 fireball to 7 mm mag and allot inbetween

increadible performance, double lung, double shoulders, spin and neck shots
you name it, have always hade a pass through even beyon 250 yds.

they have the most consistency and accuracy that i've encountered.

I do not recommend them if there is any kind of brush.

for any clearline of site they are great.

On my last trip to Namibia, I killed a eland with one shot from my 7 RM. The big bull was running full tilt close to broadside at 100 yards. On this past trip, I also killed a waterbuck, a baboon and a warthog all with the 168 Berger VLD.

I don't recall the animals I've killed so far with the Berger bullet but you can search my name and view my results.

I have been shooting them for 4 years now, and at first I was hesitant about their performance so I loaded up some Barnes TTSX which shot within 1/2" of each other at 100 so I was happy. I wanted them for backup in case they Bergers didn't do what they were suppose to. I have shot a big mulie and 1 - 2 whitetails every year since and I have not had to even think about using the Barnes! One shot, one dead animal. I have had a couple pass throughs but most have been fragmented inside with a big mess of internal damage done and very quick kills.
As for the difference between the Target VLD and the Hunting VLD well I'm pretty sure it's only the color of the box they come in as the BC is the exact same, the length of the bullet is exact same, so for them to change something on the jacket and still come back with the exact same dimmensions I think would be a miracle.
They work for me and I'm gonna keep using them, although I do wanna try out the Barnes TTSX one of these days!
