Default Bow River wading access

Well it's looking like our Thanksgiving will be spent in Calgary this year. It will be great to be together with family but I'm also curious about fly fishing the Bow which I've heard so much about. My two teenage boys and I are new to flyfishing this season but have had some great outings with plenty of eager (and not too discriminating cutthroat). Can anyone suggest access points to wade from if we can break away from festivities for an afternoon? This Edmontonian appreciates your hospitality! Thanks!

Many shops in the city have access maps, but start at Fish Creek Park and start working water.

Hit up Fish Tales Fly Shop. They will give you the skinny on flies and what sections are fishing well at the time.

Great people and great shop.

Default Carburn Park

Head down to the community of Riverbend off Deerfoot trail and 18 street SE park your vehicle at the park and walk about a hundred yards to the river, great fishing on both sides of the foot bridge, good rainbows and later in the season great holes for browns.

Some other good access spots are Glenmore Trail and the Southland dog park. Good luck! I don't do very well on the bow but usually manage at least a whitefish with a weighted nymph rig. Pheasant tail nymphs work pretty well.
