Default This is the problem

when there is demand, supply will come from a country which has plenty in stock, just like for drugs

Glad these didn't get through, a few innocent bystanders saved

Those are the people that Trudeau should concentrate on catching, rather than just harassing law abiding firearms owners.

That could happen several times per night..l hundreds of firearms coming into the country and the government does basically nothing about it.

Glad they were caught but agree that this is one of possibly thousands that are missed each year.

The Turd will probably be on the news soon spouting off about this seize being the result of his government doing a great job at border security...lol

agreed, just a drop in the bucket but what can be done to deter this traffic beside harsher sentences? just like drugs, suppliers will find ways to meet the demand...

That's the part that drives me nuts. Out of one side of their mouths they are getting tougher on law abiding gun owners while out of the other side of their mouths they are going easy on criminals who smuggle guns into the country.

It's the hypocrisy of it all that I find infuriating and the useful idiots feel safer.

Example:

C-21 (attack on law abiding gun owners)

Followed by C-22 (soft on law breaking criminals.

Short version of C-22

Mandatory minimum sentences are being removed for a long list of offences including:

– Use of firearm in commission of offence

– Possession of restricted or prohibited weapon knowing possession is unauthorized *****

– Possession of loaded handgun

– Possession of weapon obtained through crime *****

– Weapons trafficking *****

– Unauthorized import/export of firearm

– Illegal discharge of a firearm with intent

– Robbery with firearm

– Extortion with firearm

From the article above:

"The government put these changes into a bill they described as dealing with systemic racism in Canada’s justice system and making sure that people who make simple mistakes don’t pay for them for the rest of their lives.

“These are people with health problems. These are single mothers. These are young people who perhaps have made a couple of mistakes,” Justice Minister David Lametti said while introducing his bill.":

The simple mistake/a couple of mistakes of gun smuggling.... right....

Trudeau’s actions on legalizing pot are in direct contradiction with his approach to firearms. He had easy access to black market marijuana since whatever age he started using it, selling it legally garners supply chain safety, gov’t inspected product, reducing black-market crime profits and at least an attempt to keep it to users over 18. Banning guns will produce all the same bad parallels of before pot was legalized. Trudeau used and financially supported the black market pot supply for many years

You do understand that this seizure was a Success story?

Not for the fact that the illegal guns were seized from people who were importing the guns.

What is the success story you ask? The fact that the Mohawk Tribal Police for once did their job!

It is no secret that the biggest chop shops for stolen cars in that area are on the reserve. Onstar Systems have been tracking the vehicles to the Rez and the Tribal Police have done nothing to recover the vehicles.

During the Oka Standoff, where was the Mohawk Tribal Police?

During the blockade of the rail line last February, where were the Mohawk Tribal Police?

This problem of illegal importation across the St Lawrence River to the other side, is importation through the Mohawk Reserve on US Soil, to the Mohawk Reserve on Canadian Soil. The illegal importation of all manner of goods has been going on for decades through the Mohawk Reserve, right under the nose of the Mohawk Tribal Police.

This seizure is one of the few times that the Mohawk Tribal Police has assisted.

Imagine if all the organized crime networks would be kept out of the Reserve on both sides of the Border, the impact on the illegal gun and drug imports would be substantial.

It is great news, no question. I just wish they would stop all of it and leave the law abiding citizens alone.

I've worked hard all my life to not be a criminal, I'm getting tired of the current Government continually making me one with the stroke of a pen...
