Default ATV tires

I am looking for a new set of tires for my old Honda Fourtrax.
I went into a shop yesterday to buy some mudlite ITP and the sales men said not a good tire as they always go flat threw the bead. Then he tried to sell me some Kenda Bear Claws .
I am very limited on type of tires as I only found these two brands that have them in 24x9x11
So which is a better tire guys for snow and mud.
Anyone loss air with the ITP

I got mud lites last spring and love them. Up until then all I've ever used was stock tires. I havent had any problems and my trails are rough.

go with the bighorns. they are great all around tire. if you want a more aggressive tire like the mudlites, go with the the Zillas.

I have a set of bear claws on a honda quad. 6000 km on them and they will get at least that much more. With that being said, I wouldn't recommend them. They are rough and make for tougher turning. Riding with them on will tire you out far quicker

I run the mud lite xl 27-12x12 and 27-10x12 and love them. People sure seem to hate them in the tab world but I have no complaints.

I just installed Maxxis Zillas on my 1992 350 Fourtrax. 24X9X11. I ordered them from Rapid Revolutions and the installed them on the rims at no charge! They are way more grippy than the stockers that were on it!

John I went 1 size bigger. 25 inch. I had to replace the one set of rims but went with the Carlisle black rocks from princess auto. Fronts went on sale and I bought them. A few months later the back tires went on sale and I bought them and the rims. And installed them. Decent in mud, snow and smooth on hard surface. They will outlast me I think.

I got the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 radial. There are better pure traction tires but these are good with an excellent ride.

I mud ride very religiously, hitting rallies all over Alberta and Saskatchewan. Although my main machine runs aggressive tires “mud bugs” are by far the best bang for you buck tire. Have them on 2 of our Honda’s.

Mud lites are the worst tire made. They’re heavy, Bead leakin, lugs tearin off pieces of junk.
Go with the bear claws or If you want a little more aggressive tread, try mud bugs

Between the two tires you suggested, I’d get he bear claws. I’m not a fan of mud lites.

My current quad has max is big horns 2.0 and they’re probably the best tire that comes stock on machines. If they make your size, get them but I don’t think they do. If there are Zillas in your size, I’d get them instead bear claws.

I got a set like that on my older fourtrax the back ones but just put on a set two years ago on my wife's quad and no issues at all.
Went to 25 a size bigger all around.

I highly reccomend the Bear Claws.
But I'd suggest the 12" wide backs and 10" fronts, way better flotation in the skeg.
The Dick Cepek Spiders are very similar and a good tire too ,but more money.
That 12" wide rear and 10" front were must haves for me. The Bear Claws are the most readily available wide tires in Honda sizes, and they have great traction too.
You'll be happy with them for sure.
If your machine is full-time 4×4 just be sure to keep the different heights between the tires.

And I would choose the original Bear Claws over the HTR's any day.

Bighorn 2.0’s on my Rancher 420.
No complaints. Wear like iron.
Smooth ride for my trail riding and bird hunting.

Thumbs up It's mud lights

Fronts are 25X10-12
Backs are 25X12-11

Reasoning I went this route was to keep weight down as you know that our machines as reliable as they are they are not snot pouring fire breathing dragons of horse power.

I was out yesterday in two feet of snow 2nd and 3rd gear just pawing through everything....even broke through ice on a slough and pinned it as water and slush was flying every where...pucker factor but they bite and got me out of a hairy situation.

2004 Honda fourtrax 350 FM

Just some food for thought,

Good luck.
