Default Tight brass

I have a doz 7mmRM that will just not properly chamber, bolt barely turns.
These have been thru the same die that proper fitting casings have gone thru.
I re trimmed them and ensured they were under max COAL.
Die is set proper too, touching the holder plus 1/3 turn more.
All looks ok, no puckers or crushed necks that I can see.
Primers are seated properly. These are the last ones I've run too.
Any ideas as to what the problem is ? Could the die itself (Lee) have issues ?

Just a guess, but were they fired in a different rifle?

Had an issue about 20 years ago with a 300 that would not accept brass FL'd in Lee dies . Tried my RCBS dies and everything was fine.
Turns out a combination of slightly larger components .
Try some different dies.

Were they loads that were hot ? May have gone past their elastic limit

I agree with Cat. Could be your die is not getting down far enough to squeeze just above the belt. I had virtually the same issue with my 7mm mag and ended up buying a belted magnum collet resizing die from larrywillis.com.

Thanks guys, same rifle, second run of once fired casings.
Not loaded too hot, a few gn below recommended max in loading data.
I'll run them again, I'll pull the primer pin and get it down to the belt for sure.
A buddy just tells me he has dies I can use if I need them.

This nailed it ! Eventually all belted cases will require the Larry Willis treatment. I have not ran across a typical re-sizing die that will do it.

I generally run my belted magnum cases 6 to 8 loadings and toss them, and so far, I have never had an issue using RCBS or Redding dies. I could likely get more, but I don't take chances with my hunting loads. On the other hand, I typically get 15 or more loadings out of my non belted Lapua cases. I always start with new cases, and only use them in one rifle.

why don't you try shaving a couple of thou off the top of your shellholder at your local machinist. i dont think they are hardened.

They are harder than woodpecker lips.

My fault guys, there was a hair of room left to press the brass into the die.
Poor lighting in my bench area, I'll take care of that.
Chambers well now. Belts were on spec.
Thanks again,

I guess that you didn't have 1/3 turn of preload after all.

Dont sweat it, everyone has a moment of oops once in a while. I short sized 200 pieces of brass last month.
