Default What's your go to gun for hunting deer?

Just wondering what everyone's go to rifle is for hunting deer? I don't have any particular one yet but I did just get a winchester model 70 featherweight in 243 and a Leupold vx3 3.5-10x40 on it. I also use a Tikka t3 30-06 and a marlin 336BL 3030 for in the bush. What do you guys use? Anybody know where to find a model 70 featherweight in 25-06?

Browning A-bolt 25.06 topped with Zeiss HD5 2x10x42, shooting 110 gr. Accubonds. Deadly combination on deer, bear, & antelope out to 300 yds. to say the least. I haven't used it for anything further out, but I would suspect that it would still knock 'em down in a hurry. It works on elk & moose too, but is not my preferred firestick for them.

Right now it's still my model 673 Mohawk in 308win. With 165 grain Sierra Game Kings. Bushnell 3-9x40 elite 3200

Hope that after this season it will be my savage 25-06 just recently set into a Boyds stock. Have to site it in and see what it likes. Have a box of corlokt and a box of fusions to start.

I had Leeper build this one as last big game rifle I would ever need or own
It works very well.
have killed deer using everything from 15o grain Barnes TSX's to 215 C.I.L.'s with the express sight and the scope.

Ruger 77 tang safety in .270 win. 3x9 Bushnell. 150 gr partitions. I have done very well with this gun. I can only think of two animals I've missed over the last 10 years of hunting with it. My fault both times. Good gun that has never let me down and has made it hard to justify buying another big game rifle. Now shotguns and .22 rim fires however. That's a different story.

Default Only gun

The only gun that I use anymore is a CZ 30-06. I pull the trigger and it goes bang and the animal falls dead, seems like a good choice.

Ah, but if you had read, there within is/are my deer rifle(s).

Along with a host of other members deer rifles, I'm sure...Perhaps there's a few rifles in there that aren't, but at the end of the day, ones reading comprehension skills would differentiate things pretty quickly.

Default deer rifle

My latest "last gun I should ever need" is a Blaser R8. Love it. Best piece of German technology ever! It comes as a switch barrel system, but for deer I stick with the time proven 30-06. I have a 9.3x62 and 22-250 barrel for covering anything larger and smaller, without having to change the bolt face.

Pretty hard to beat the old 30 cals for that bang, smack and drop dead effect!

I only own two rifles a 30-06 and a 300 Win Mag, both are excellent but the 300 Win Mag is better for longer shots and a little more umph, especially with them new Nosler Trophy Grade ABLR's.

Default Oldy but a goody.

Remington model 701 30-06 Springfield made in 1955.
It's a third generation gun and proud of it.
The steel but plate is almost right smooth now.

I used to pack my 270 win for deer but i am no longer able to shoot it since my wife claimed it and she says its hers. For deer this fall i will be packing my T3 6.5x55 or my 1885 in 6.5x55. Im also partnered on a antlered moose this fall, for that i will be packing either the 45/70 or 300wm.

My Remington B&C Edition Model 700 in 7mm08, with 140 gr partitions, or ballistic tip, or tsx....works great. Never had a customer complain with the delivery. Sweet cartridge, low recoil, I get great accuracy with the rifle, and it knocks them down very effectively.

Savage lightweight hunter in 243 (wood/blued), with a vortex viper 3-9x40 bdc scope. Alltogether (scope/ammo/scope cover/sling) it's 7 lbs 8 oz. MOA out to 300 yards and those little 80 gr ttsx leave massive holes in the ribs but don't blow up shoulders.

im used to carrying heavy packs and I would never go back to a 9-10 lb plus rifle. This thing is an absolute joy to wander with

What do you rub on your wood? I also have a ruger single shot with nice wood but am curious how other people take care of theirs.

Gotta get a ruger no. 1. You dont realize it until you have one. Ambidextrous too. Problem is they are so nice you will convince yourself that you need to buy more of them as family heirlooms for generations after you to use.
