Default Landowner with a beaver problem

Is an Alberta landowner allowed to shoot a problem beaver on his own property and salvage the pelt (have it tanned) if he so chooses? Is it worth keeping a July beaver pelt?

Can't speak for legalities but as for July beaver pelts. Not worth your while for the price of tanning. An early spring or late fall would be much better. Best of the best is one through the ice!

Yes you can shoot or trap the problem beaver. I have had some summer beaver tanned and they turned out great. I remember 20 years ago we used to get top money for our summer nuisance beaver because they were easier to pluck or shear.

Do you not need a resident tappers license to trap Beaver even on your own land that's how I understood it this year I was going to trap some but had to hire a resident trapper.

Beaver

May be hunted and trapped, without a licence and during all seasons, on privately owned land by the owner or occupant of the land, or by a resident with written permission from the owner or occupant of the land.

Beavers are a nuisance and very destructive for landowners. The only good beaver is a dead one in my opinion (on private land).

Beavers require management...without management, they can do alot of damage.

I waged a war on beavers for alot of years until we had dry years.
Then little buggers saved my bacon on my pastures as a water source...so now I work with them.

yes culling of the herd is required from time to time!
