It will work just fine, use a well constructed bullet and you are good to go

I know lots of guys who use it as well as the 7x57 and love them .
I personally used the Seirra 160's in my 7x57's

With a properly constructed bullet (Hornady GMX, Barnes TSX, Nosler Partition etc ...)it is a potent elk and moose killer.

I've shot one with a 140 gr Fusion a few years ago. Ive started reloading since then and will be using a 140 gr partition for this years tag.

Any legal caliber of rifle with a well constructed bullet will do the trick on anything we can hunt in Alberta at "normal" hunting ranges. Put the shot where it needs to be, and anything from an antelope to a moose will die. Are some calibers better than others depending on the task, absolutely, but they will all work.

It is a moose hunting cartridge for sure!
My son used 139gr interlock. Old fashioned cup and core and Mr Moose was darn dead.

I haven't shot one with the 7-08 myself, but I've killed about a half dozen of them with my .270, and know plenty of people using the 7x57 to kill them. While the super tough bullet suggestions are worth considering I would say that something along the lines of the Fusion or a Corelokt would be plenty.
Whenever you get to the smaller end of the cartridge scale people start trying to compensate by using more bullet. In reality, as far as I've seen, the super tough bullets are more necessary to hold together at the high impact speeds generated by magnum rounds, at the lower speeds generated by standard rounds a decent cup and core bullet will give good terminal performance. By the time you get down to say 30-30 or .303 velocities it seems to matter even less.

7-08 is what my wife shoots...will be using it on her bull moose this year with 140gr partitions. I used a 25-06 with 115gr partitions on my bull moose last year....

My daughter took her cow moose last year with her 7/08. 140gr accubonds. Perfect behind the shoulder. Moose only went about 40 yards. Great little cal but as always shot placement is everything.

Moose in my experience are fairly easy to kill.Shot through the lungs with a good premium bullet of any legal caliber and they die fast.
