Default Real country singers

There's been a lot of people bashing country lately, and I do agree that there's a good percentage of it that's just "bad pop with a fiddle"

however there's some really good recent artists as well:

Dean Brody

Corb Lund

Tim Hus

Add to the list folks, you know what I mean! actual "country" country. not jason aldean

I like mine aged a little, like Merle Hagard, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, old Kenny Rogers (or should I say young?), Farron Young, etc.

Does that mean that the music expired too?

Is the classical still ok to listen to?

A lot of modern music will expire when all the people that listened to it are gone.

Guys like The Old Disc Jockey and Roy Forbes will help keep a lot of music from disappearing.

The good stuff won't expire - just like a lot of classical music hasn't.

Composed music has a lot to do with the longevity of classical music.

What I like best about the old singers, is they sounded the same on record/tape/whatever as they did live. Most new stuff sounds great on CD but live they wouldn't even make a good karaoke singer

There are lots of great artists... Unfortuantely there aren't many in the last 5 years I can name that I can say that I would honestly want to go to a concert to see...Mr. Strait is defiantely in the top! So many pioneers that have done so much for country music - Jones, Haggard, Cline, Snow, Williams to name a few...

Walked by a honky tonk in Nashville when we were there in August and the place was rockin to a pretty good band and a great young lady singing hits by Reba, Trisha, Faith, Jo Dee Messina, and a few others... When we stuck our heads in she had already racked up over $300 in tips!! Great voice and never missed a beat to any of the songs she sung.. I never caught her name, but wish I had.. If she sticks with it, she may turn into a great.. Did I mention she was EIGHT!!!! I was amazed!!

No he's not. He's done touring, that's it.

He's signed a contract for 4 or 5 more albums.

I heard this on Sirius today, kind of giggled as I hate the song too

Zac Brown is unhappy with some of the more commercial aspects of modern country music, and he’s not afraid to say so in public. In a new interview, the singer-songwriter takes aim at some of the songs currently on country radio, and Luke Bryan‘s latest single in specific.

“There’s not a lot of the country format that I really enjoy listening to,” Brown tells Vancouver’s 93.7 JRfm. “If I hear one more tailgate in the moonlight, daisy duke song, I’m gonna throw up. There’s songs out there on the radio right now that make me ashamed to be even in the same format as some other artists.”

He calls out Luke Bryan’s recently released single, ‘That’s My Kind of Night,’ as a case in point.

“I love Luke Bryan, and he’s had some great songs, but this new song is the worst song I’ve ever*heard,” Brown says. “I see it being giant commercially, successful within what is called country music these days, but I also feel like that the people deserve something better than that.”

He adds, “I’m opinionated because I care so much about the music and the songs.”
