I suppose you are right theres probably nothing else it could be. i wonder if its losing power when i zeroed the scoped rifle aat 50 metres it drops about 3.5 inches at 100. i think it says 1875 fps on the pack.

those little particles might be some type of filler material to keep the powder close to the primer for proper ignition and burn rate.

My 22mag ammo did the same thing... Some brands more-so than others.

It could be lead chromate, Google a image and see if it matchs the same as the powder in your barrel.

Default 22 mag

The powder doesn't look the same although I think it must be powder changed a bit. Lead chromate is corrosive and looks like the same colour but I dont think that much solids could precipitate out of gas in the barrel it must be leftover unburned stuff of course my pictures are upside down the scale reads 3.8 grains

I had the same residue with cci ammo. When I first purchased the rifle I purchased different types I think it was cci tnt jhp 30g and maxi-mag hp 30g both didn’t work well so I didn’t keep accurate notes as to which had the unburned singed particles? Most Winchester ammo seemed to like the rifle.

Was a thread just like this on Rimfire Central and it was also determined to be powder that wasn't fully burnt.

A quick wave with a match or lighter under the patch should confirm if it's powder.

Yes that will confirm.

I did try this but I believe as a cidiote? It did not work.

I stopped the spell checker I did not want to discriminate.
