Good Move
He was not going to be accepted from the start. Not sure what got into his head.
At least he was smart enough to realize this early. Funny.
The debate in an hour will be interesting.

Kept on asking him to post his " key performance indicators " on his French progress but it fell on deaf, lazy,or conceited ears. It would have made the transparent difference to show he was serious. No Dice.

O'Leary out of the race? What race?
He was never in it.
Good riddance - one less loser on the ballot.

sooooo it sounds like he is sympathetic to Alberta values if he says that about himself. He clearly says it with a sense of pride. http://thestarphoenix.com/storyline/...an-from-quebec
Sorry, I just can't agree with your baseless "gut call" about him. You are wrong.

The debate going on right now a joke
The CBC.ca live stream debate is a flop.
Only five candidates showed up. Not 13. Just 5.
A mess.

If the 5 serious ones showed up, great. That field needed to be thinned out.

Where have you been hiding?! Up until today, O'leary was one of the two front runners!

It's a good thing ,
I am a western French Canadian or I'd be screaming racism or at the very least froggism , now
for all the anti French sentiment on here ! Our provincial govt
wouldn't stand for that . After all the millions Alberta has invested
in Quebec over the years , instead of being proud of our achievements
all we do is belittle our efforts in raising the standard of living in la belle
province . In the 50s , 60s , and early 70 s the French living in sod huts
On a diet of bad cheese and tourtière were a strong example of northern
third world conditions . Then Alberta became a economic super power
And thanks to the foresight of the Federal Govt under the direction of a
string of puffed up lard eating Grenouilles, gods country was raped and
pillaged . If it wasn't for us Western Giants , Quebec would just be a land
of greedy , self indulged , backwoods swamp signers .
How many of the last 6 pms have been French Canadians , Harper that
silver tongued devil mesmerized those habitants , much like any
Player on the 1916-17 Rangers .
MAX is my man , can he be worse than Pierre , Jean , Brian , Justine
I doubt it ... Go Oilers .

So far I'm not impressed with anybody at the debate. Even Max wasn't great at all. I actually like the kid from Saskatchewan the most so far.

Meh, you don't like a candidate unless he rides a horse shirtless.

A front runner who's never even showed up at a debate - how'd he manage that? Cons that said he was a front runner have been hiding in the swamp or under a big rock.
At least O'Leary is smart enough to admit that he can't beat the Liberals.
And he had the the smarts not showing up at a televised debate trying to look like leadership material in a gray suit and brown Wallabies. And he didn't look like the guy with the big purple scarf that was so unfit that he couldn't get up and sit on the stool with the other losers in a previous debate. O'Leary might have looked like a leader - until you realize the shallowness of his character.
Only 5 left in the latest debate - it looks like some have gone unceremoniously AWOL - nice commitment to the party and the country clowns.
Bernier just looks too greasy- and in reality he is. No more greasy corrupt PQ politicians need apply or wanted by the rest of the country - no matter what party they lead.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the nut job ex orthopedic surgeon is the Cons best bet for a leader.
Dark times ahead predicted already for the Cons in the next election.

Geez... that's scary....especially since your prediction of how life in Alberta would be so great once the NDP got into power.....

Remember folks...
He/she has got to win seats in the east, and to be brutally frank, you guys will vote for the party anyway so from an election point of view, you can be ignored.
You may catch a glimpse of how La Belle Province sees the election, they are capable of changing their votes and thus they are the people who elect the government.
When you are a minority in a large country like ours, it pays to know how the system works.

So correct. Alberta and the prairies are insignificant. I was shocked at one of the lady candidates Raitt who would sell out just to get votes in her Ontario riding so she was trying to be politically correct for wrong reasons. A bad sign.
But in the end it is all the east that will decide. Hopefully by then even the east will be so turned off by Global post nationist lack of Canadian values / identity that the govt will swing back to normal.
Hopefully a non politician wins. At least they may shake Trumps hand when he offers. As a human.

Gotta love it when someone without a clue about conservatism comments about who is best to lead the conservatives.......like he could even begin to understand while shilling for the NDP

Good on OLeary. Frankly, I didn't think he had it in him to step aside.
Bernier is the only candidate that has a chance against Trudeau, and he happens to have pretty good policies as well...particularly when it comes to firearms. How much of it will get passed if they get in is anybody's guess (likely not enough), but as long as the ball is getting moved in the right direction. (unlike now)
