Nickel plating?
Does anyone have a recommendation for someone that does this in Western Canada? I’m looking to have a set of scope rings done. Thanks.

Don't know of a shop that specializes, but Alberta Plating is in Calgary.
The problem with plating is adding the thickness of Nickel puts the ID of the rings out of spec. dimensionally, also depending on the type of rings the plating may crack when torqued.
Honestly ,you may be better off getting Stainless or Aluminum rings(assuming you have steel rings now) and have them polished, stainless can look chromed with out all the possible problems associated with plating.
Also, Nickel is VERY hard as far as marking scope tubes is concerned and any plating on screw hole threads will chew up screws also base cross screws.

I used to do nickel plating years ago. It’s a good finish . If you can you want to find someone that does electtoless nickel plating .It does not build up on edges and holes like electric nickel plating does .

You worked in a commercial/custom plating shop?
Electroless can be a better option but can still run into issues.
Steel or Alum. rings Chuck?

They are steel. And this option is not available in any other option but blued.

I owned and operated a gunsmithing business in Lethbridge . I quit doing plating as had to deal with some chemicals to pacify tanks that were nasty .

If you look at Weaver or Burris rings they state "nickel finish" not nickel plated.
I worked in a custom chrome shop for 10 years and yes ,some really nasty chemicals used in that industry,we normally didn't recommend plating rings for the above previously stated reasons.
Chuck, you know how tight a fit the dovetails are going into the bases when new, with plating on them, even micro thin, has less clearance for fitment.
It's copper plated first, then nickel. Also ,you have to strip the original finish off, which in this case is bluing, that's not an issue but it leaves the threads bare metal in the lower half and you can't plate them so they rust because they're unprotected.
You can replace the Torx screws with stainless ones, which is what manufacturers provide with nickel finish rings. If your after the finish colour maybe look at Cerakote or some thing along those lines.
I'm particular about my finished projects like you, honestly I don't think you'll be happy with them down the road.
Anyway ,you get the picture.
But, I'm sure someone will chime in with the opposite opinion or results.

Good to know, thanks. I might consider gunkote for these. Get them in the bases how I want them and then send them to Gary Flach for coating. Rings and bases together.

Electroless nickel gives a nice finish . The finished product is based on the prep , it can be matte ,high polish or anything in between. You can do screws etc . It does not require any base plating. I really like it but don’t know anyone that does it. There probably is someone but I don’t know who .

There is easy fix.Looks like you need a dual dovetail, by 2 sets of stainless regular rings low or med. size use only 2 rings with doves tail (left over good spare upper half and screws) 2 as sets about $75 or so much better than nickel plated and cheaper too. Problem solved!

I had Murray Charlton put a new barrel on a S&W, and the the whole gun was re-plated and polished, they did a fantastic job. The problem is, Murray has retired (sadly) and the plating was not done in house, so I don't know who they used. I could try and find out for you if you are interested? He was in BC, and his web page says permanently closed.

Is your scope silver?
If it's not, I think a matte/blued ring looks much better on a matte/blued scope than a silver colored ring.
Black Box Customs can cerekote your rings in many colors.
