Default Skeet Shooting Range Options

Hey Everyone. Looking for skeet shooting range suggestions in and around Calgary (within an hour's drive) or suggestions as to where I can shoot with a personal launcher. Thank you in advance.

Skeet is a formal clay shooting game with high and low towers, and a semicircular layout of stations.
You seem to be looking to shoot clays informally, pasture trap is one name.

You can go shoot at a fair number of trap, skeet and sporting clay fields close to Calgary, either as a member or occasional shooter. The cost is nearly the same as buying your own birds and thrower, with a much better setup, guys to talk to and club house facilities. Silver Willow, Calgary Firearms Centre, there is also one at Carstairs and just north of Olds to name just a few.

There are many more trap fields in Alberta than there are skeet fields. I mention that, because the OP also mentioned using his own target launcher, so he isn't set on skeet, and may not even know the difference between trap and skeet.

10 minutes south of the city limits of Calgary, great place to shoot, I shoot registered ATA targets there 2 or 3 times a year.

Thank you everyone. I did not know the difference between trap, skeet, and sporting clays when I posed the question. Thank you for drawing my attention to that and for all of your suggestions.

As far as Crown land clay shooting goes, it was a large part of the cause of Kananaskis getting shut down. Waiparous will be the next one sooner than later. Around Calgary, trap/sporting clays ranges are resonably accessible, there is Dewinton and Carstairs, one around Milo I believe, one at Bassano, one at Brooks, one at Drumheller also I think, one in Hanna, maybe Trochu. Not sure about Claresholm, may run clays there too. An when you consider it, driving to Drum, Brooks or Milo is no further than Waiparous, they are all 1-1/2 hr drives roughly, from Calgary, Hanna is a hair over 2 hrs.

Default Go to AHEIA

The club in dewinton is great. They are very helpful and you can ask to get some instruction that will be well worth the time. They also have good prices on shotguns. bought a youth pump for a good chunk less than they were priced elsewhere.

If you mean actual skeet (high house, low house, 8 stations), Lone Pine between Olds and Bowden is great. Wednesday's and Sunday's. Great rates.
