Default Free Mule Deer Antlers

I have 4 sets of antlers that are still attached to skull plates that I would like to give away. Preferably to a young artist of something like that. They range in size from around 140" to 170" and are all 4X4 Mulies. They have been stored inside for years so they are in great shape. Lots of memories for sure but I am running out of room so thought this might be a good idea. If anyone is interested in them, send me a PM. I am in Calgary. I can't seem to upload the picture but I can email or text a pic if needed.

I was told by F&W that antlers attached to skull plates can only be donated to individuals or entities like clubs or associations as long as a bill of lading is signed and kept with the antlers. There is a blank bill of lading in the hard copy of the hunting regulations. I asked F&W because I was wondering if the mounts I have could become a headache if they were part of my estate. I'm sure none of my kids would want the mounts or skull plates so to save them from the landfill in the future I was considering donating my mounts and skull plates while I'm around. That was the answer I was given.

Default antlers

It is of my opinion the Government should mind their own business.
If a guy shoots a deer with a tag what business is it to the feds. The antler is part of the bone and scull. People sell bones all the time. What is the difference?
The whole issue is to control the people only again. It is just another strike against ownership in canada. It is getting real troublesome and people should rebel against every sick rule imposed on our private ownership.

I am not looking to sell these. They are hopefully going to be used for some sort of art project. I will call F&W tomorrow to clarify if I need some sort of paperwork to give them away.

Default There tentatively taken

Got someone that is going to take them later this week. I will call F&W to confirm that I can in fact give them away. If not, I will get what ever permit is needed or cut off the skull plates and then they will be the same as shed antlers.

Hard to believe that I can't just give them away. All animals were harvested, tagged, and processed legally during an open hunting season. I can legally share (give away) meat to my friends and family. I can't see what possible difference there is in giving away the antlers.

I hope it all works out the way you want and Good For You for offering them up.

Jeez-What a world we live in

Under cover of night and complete concealment a swaddled bundle of antlers are left on the doorstep of an Artist's Colony so that they can be raised to become a Art Project.

Pretty nefarious stuff going on

I recently cleared out some old antlers where they became Tool Holders in a Man Cave Garage.

Last week right out of the blue, my wife asked if she could do a Art Project with some of my antlers and was both sad and gladdened that I had given them away.

The project she had in mind is basically taking Fabric Paint and squeezing out lines of paint in a pattern to mimic Bark over the complete surface of the Antlers. The paint is thick and dries in a raised pattern with lots of textural elements.
Once dried it is then Spray Painted in a Matte White.

Easy project for those at home.

Wildlife and their body parts are owned by the Crown.
The Province if you will, not the Feds.
They cover the Migratory Birds and Saltwater critters.

There shouldnt be an issue with these items being part of an Estate.
Generally the Grubbies get excited is when things of questionable status start appearing in Trophy Books or on CL for big money.
A call to the local MNR office will put your mind at ease for dealing with ''The Estate'' issue and hopefully thats a long way away.

Default Called F&W

I called F&W this morning. Looks like because the skull plate is attached, a letter stating that I will be giving these away will have to be filled out and signed. As well, if the antlers are turned into an art piece, the letter will have to be in the owner of the art pieces possession and the art piece can never be sold. I guess with all the poaching and animal trafficking that goes on in the world, I guess it makes sense.
