Friend of mine saw a gander of grizzlies at Medicine Lake. Luckily she was close to her car so she escaped, but they seemed hungry.

They are usually awake at least a month before black bears most years. Some don't even sleep much all winter and will go in and out of their dens.

Nube is correct , male grizz can come out any month in winter. females with cubs will usually sleep all winter.
