I did some searching on Russian portals for any hunting supplies store in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. There are a few store there but non of them have a website! The only thing I could get out of this search is the following: apparently, only non-rifled gun qualifies as a “hunting” rifle. That sounds really odd, so I’m not sure what to say here... you can purchase a Dragunov sniper rifle but the barrel will have no rifling! That is considered a civilian/hunting rifle! Same is with AK!
Not sure how it works there man, you need to be careful bringing your hunting rifles with you. I would contact Russian customs to find out if there are any restrictions in bringing in AND transporting rifles inside Russia. Do not rely on somebody here, the info may be old and you can end up loosing your guns.
As for the most common cartridge, it is definatly 7.62x54R. There are tons of Mosin rifles there along with the Civilian version of Dragunov (SVD).
