I would like peoples thoughts on the following. I will put this down word for word. Let me know how you interpret this.

"Regulatory and Legislative Changes Required:

Current: The Wildlife Act does not allow landowners to be paid for providing hunting access (paid hunting).

Proposed: A Ministerial Order will outline that landowner payment from an organization based on contractual commitments to provide wildlife habitat and access is not in violation with the Wildlife Act."

Sounds like even the lawyers feel this is paid hunting and a change to the current regulations are required.

I just found out that there is a big meeting in southern alberta tommorow night between the government boys and some of the upset board members and Im not sure who else. It seems that the squeeky wheels are getting some greese atleast information but I wonder why anyone hasnt said anything here. Anyone from here going? Why the big secret? Also just found out that the goverment boys will be letting a bunch of info out to the public tommorow two.

I have the info that will be released tomorrow.

Please note, this package is over 34 pages long.
What I have is the handouts that were given away at the meeting in Edmonton

For anyone that lives in Calgary, I have made up a few additional packages, so you are welcome to stop by and get them.
I am going to work on getting them in to a Email fashion.

Your right, they do need a change in legislation, that is why it is so important EVERYONE get in contact with your MLA.
Some MLA's are in the dark about this whole thing, so you might have to bring them up to speed. There will be a Vote on this so make sure your MLA knows exactly how you as a voter feel about it.

Even if you don't agree with huntingdads stance it is part of the question. Why for the mostpart has the whole process been conducted in the dark.

To the original question Bubba.

They came up with a plan, then saw that a part could be interpreted as being in contravention of the law. So they had to address that problem with a Ministerial order. (the mimister has the power to make certian "changes", exemtions and definitions to or of a law)

You are familiar with the special "ministers permits" for sheep and elk. The season for sheep and elk is closed. But the ministerial order allows them to be hunted in that "out of season" time period, on these special permits.

I will not go off on a tangent and comment here on the whole pilot project and my opinion as to if it bad or good.

I have decided to delete my last few post as I do not want to bias the discussion that is going on. I would like people to read the information and give their assesment based on it rather than hearing what I have to say. The more honest feedback on the document the better. No matter what it is. I would like to hear it all. I have already been drug into one discussion that I should have avoided. Please keep posting or PMing.

well i guess if thats teh way its gonna be and its out in the open now and everyone knows whats happeing, i guess a guy better get ahold of the mcyntyre ranch and get ahold of one of them muley tags before there all gone.

Nobody is going to pay 10K for little southern AB moose IMHO. That little moose needs to be in MT before BC recognizes it as Shiras. So why would anyone pay 10k for a little Canadian moose? 4k will get you an outfitted hunt in the north. I think the same will go for elk, we don't have much in the way of trophy potential as the BC book tells us so. 4K for a mule tag? Maybe but then the purchaser has to buy an outfitted hunt so he will be paying much more for the hunt in the end. As far as the monster trophies being worth it to hunt the places like the Deseret, I don't know, I can't find any information that the outfitter there kills monsters now. Just my opinion but I don't think all the numbers line up just like a few other things in the document.

Jamie, that Moose tag is for 300, not 108.

As for the big ranches opting in or out. I'm just passing along firsthand information.

Imagine what a moose/elk combo hunt will cost. I am pretty sure these ranches can start there own outfitting companies too, pretty cheap start up if you ask me, free tags! Regardless what the tags go for they come out of our draw allocations! And they are selling our wildlife! The whole thing is wrong.

Oh and gunslinger don't bother calling McIntyre, they will never allow hunting.
