Default Wizard pigeon or Wizard???

I'm staying with a buddy who lives in Thorsby....just south are these 3 lakes. Don't fish them...so wondering what lake do u think would be best? It would be nice to keep something as he has a smoker....but....whatever....lol

Maybe wizard would be ok for perch?

Don't need secret spots...i can probably see old threads to try to figure out....probably just walk out from a boat launch...lol

Tnx

Happy

No idea about Perch in Wizard but it can do OK for small pike year around.

Pigeon and Battle are both hit and miss during the winter, some days you can't keep them off the hook and some days you drill 30 holes and only get one. Neither lake has great perch fishing, at least from what I have seen and read.

How thick is the ice at Wizard? None of these lakes will produce much for Perch

Ever notice how many anglers are keen on perch? Maybe F&W should take notice and begin stocking perch in lakes that have depleted perch stocks, or in lakes that don't have perch now but that could develop into good perch fisheries.

I've always found the perch in the water, below the ice.

For every good perch you catch in Wizard you will catch 200 small ones. The best place I found a few years back was below the power wires where they crossed the lake.Small red and white Len Thompson seemed to work the best tipped with a Maggot. Be careful, winter ice on Wizard is scary!!!South side is deadly due to the gas pockets .

Or they could just stop doing the stupid walleye thing, and the perch would be fine. Most anglers started targeting perch (and burbot) when they could no longer keep walleye.

I don't think you could find a perch in pigeon if you fished 300 days a year. Don't know about the other two.

I’ve seen hog perch on camera at mameo in the past few years, they are very few and far between though.
