Default playboy may 1971 John Wayne interview.

Still ruffling feathers nearly 50 years later (Recent decision in California to scrap "John Wayne day", agree with him or not I realise now that Playboy articles were worth reading (Who knew?).

I'm sure some of us were awestruck by them back then.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the link, thanks Unregistered user. I sure would love to give the Duke a solid handshake.

My alternative in the 60's to the drivel of stupid poetry and Shakespeare that teachers tried to shove down my throat was reading articles in Playboy. Written in understandable English and informative of what was happening in the world. To this day if anyone mentions Shakespeare I go into a tirade. His books would be more useful if they were written on a roll of soft tissue and placed at the right height next to a water closet.
And yes I like John Wayne, still prefer his movies to the cocaine induced scripts of present day. He portrayed the character of a real man, and you won't find many of those walking the streets of California.

I am not $h!tting you when I say I had a subscription to Playboy in the 80's JUST for the articles and new gadgets. I'm guilty for looking at Hustler for the eye candy..I feel shame

It’s almost as though he was talking about the present, despite the interview being 47 years old. Freeloading lefties that want gov’t handouts, Hollywood elites making films to influence public opinion to sway to the political left, tension over ethnicity being drummed up by people who enjoy conflict.

I think we were at a better point in the 1980’s than we are now in terms of racial, religious and political tensions.

About two months back I happened across this interview with President Reagan and I found it rather enlightening in regards to his mention of what was happening during ‘McCarthyism’ and the attempts of communists to influence public opinion through Hollywood. Many may know this but for some it’s important to know that Reagan was president of the Screen Actors Guild during that time, he does mention it in the interview but it bears repeating. I found his explanation to be quite enlightening as I had been brought up to believe that McCarthyism was purely a witch hunt rather than a legitimate concern that wound up getting some possibly innocent people in trouble / blacklisted as was taught to me at home. I know for certain that Reagan would have vastly more first hand knowledge on the matter than my lefty Dad.
