Default 2015 Calgary Bowzone Whitetail

I posted this in the hunting section but figured I would post it here as well

When you put the time in, good things happen. I have sat in my stand at least one day of basically every weekend since the season started plus multiple mid week sits after work. Besides a few small bucks and doe's, I really haven't seen much. This is quite typical of our spot as every year the bucks do not show up till the rut. Sunday morning I rattled in 3 shooter bucks. First a wide tall 4X4. I let him walk and rattled again about 10 minutes later. Right away I heard something coming in. I figured it was the 4X4 but it ended up being what I thought was a 5X4. I could see he was being trailed by a second buck (again I figured it was the 4X4). When he got to 10 yards, I drew as he walked behind a tree. A few more steps and I grunted. A perfect 15 yard broad side shot. My shot was a bit back as my arrow deflected off a twig but I could see a lot of blood pouring out. He only ran 30 yards and piled up. While waiting for him to expire I looked back to where the other buck was still standing and it was a heavy, wide 5X5 at 40 yards. He just stood there watching. He didn't seem spooked at all, just slowly walked off. Hopefully My son, brother, nephew or niece get a chance at him. We are very lucky and our family are the only ones with permission on this property. I am extremely happy with this buck, He's my best bow killed whitetail to date. He's a 5X3 as one side does not have a brow tine. Good luck to everyone out there and straight shooting!!!!

In my opinion, any deer with a bow is a "trophy", but your hard work paid off to get a real trophy! Congrats!
