Default Anybody know the Remington Speedmaster 552?

Hey guys; I have a 30+ year old Remington speedmaster 552. It has never been cleaned thoroughly that I know of. I have gotten as far as removing the trigger assembly but cannot remove the barrel from the receiver . I downloaded the manual as well as watched videos on youtube. Pretty straight forward , but my barrel will not come apart. Any suggestion? I do not want to force to much.

Maybe 30 years of gunk and dirt have jammed it in there. Try a penetrating oil like Kroil and let it sit overnight. Might do the trick.

WD-40 might work. Its worth a try. A penetrating oil like Kroil is thinner and made to get into tight places where a lubricant like WD-40 cant get.
Good luck

Any penetrating oil will work, Crappy Tire is good place to get it.

I had the same issue with mine, when I first got it. As above, I soaked it and kept trying to work it apart. Sometimes its the threads that are gunked up, and other times the take down button is stuck. Work at it slowly and just use hand strength. It will come apart.
Check the value of that rilfe out on GunBroker, they have gone up quite a bit over the last few years.
Post up a picture or two?

R.

Thanks guys, I could not believe the new price on these, I will check gunbroker to see the used price. I am still trying to figure out the date on it. the code on mine is LA 87. The first letter according to the date code sheet is February. If I understand the second letter tells me that it is either 1932 or 1964. That is the part I am having trouble with. The 87 I have no clue.
