Draw question- 999 elk and use a general tag?

Hi guys.
I wanted to confirm my understanding of draws for elk.
I would like to 999 my elk draw for this year, but still purchase a General tag in one of the WMU's.

My understanding of the regs is that if I got an elk draw, I ma not allowed to purchase a general elk tag as well.

So the question is. Can I put in my elk this year as a 999 and still buy that general elk tag that I have been looking at??

By putting "999" you are NOT getting a draw. That is what "999" means. All you do is advance your priority for that particular draw code. Hence you have answered your own question.

Yes you can still buy a general tag , but there wont be a general season in the WMU where you are applying .

I am planning on going for the general Elk in 314. It's a 3 point or larger. Thought i would try my luck with that this year. Hence wanting to 999 my Elk draw opportunity.

Maybe ,but the draw zone Im familiar with there isnt an archery general , a guy almost needs a lawyer to decipher some of these things .

The area we hunt here has the draw season in November and there's a general archery season Sept and Oct.
