Stolen hunting gear (and guns) in edmonton

I'm racking my brain and trying to find ANYWHERE to post about this to try and catch these thieves...so if you have any other ideas of where to post about this online, please feel free to copy and paste the story to those forums or places or let me know where else I might post them, and I will do it as well...

My husband came into Canada to come hunt whitetail, and yesterday morning 2 white men around 40 years old in a white truck stole their enclosed trailer (somehow got it un-hooked from the truck, and moved from the snowbank they parked it against) full of hunting equipment and then ditched the trailer in a field outside of Edmonton, and took EVERYTHING, and also damaged the trailer.

Please if you have seen anything, or hear of someone trying to get rid or or sell a LOT of nice hunting gear either somewhere in town or online in other places, please call the local authorities in Edmonton. We are guessing they got away with almost $75,000 worth of gear.
A general list of what was stolen:
-A TON of camo clothing, most of it was name-brand items from Cabella's (Sitka, Mossy Oak, Cabella's brand, etc) in sizes Large to 3XL. Pants, shirts, coats, bibs, coverall's, etc.
-6 rifles-some are specialized and VERY expensive (these rifles will be missing the bolts)
-Swarovski spotting scopes, binoculars, rangefinders
-Professional Canon video camera with boom microphone
-Hunting boots-numerous pairs (I know 2 were size 13, 1 brand new camo hunting boots, and the others were brand new black muck boots)
-Scent-lock brand totes to store camo
-Hunting packs (these were packed with their skinning knives, etc.)
-blue Yamaha Generator-2000 watt
-Numerous hunting accessories such as sitting pads, body heater suits, heated socks, gloves, white cotton over's that are required for hunting up there

I know there was more that was stolen, but until they get home, we can't get a complete list.

Please, if you hear of anyone stealing a trailer load of hunting equipment, or see things such as these being sold anywhere online, please contact the Edmonton police and let them know it could be from the trailer that was stolen from the Holiday Inn parking lot on 11/24/13 between 2am and 7am.

I assume the proper reports have been filed with the police.
If the bolts from the rifles are missing, I'd be posting what make of rifles were stolen, I'd be forwarding this list to every gunshop, gun parts dealer and association that puts on gun shows. I'd also find as many outdoor and gun forums to post the list on as well.

Has this theft been reported directly to the RCMP??, this will give across
Canada coverage, at the least, make sure the Edmonton Police Service
has forwarded the list to them. It is likely they will move everything out of the city. Perhaps, with EPS guidance, you could offer a reward for infor-
mation or arrest & conviction. Report to your insurer immediately.

Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it. Being from the US, I don't know what RCMP is, but I will call the Edmonton department tomorrow and ask them to please forward that information on to RCMP. We have definitely thought about offering rewards for information that leads to a conviction, so we will likely offer that to them tomorrow as well.
I did call a few of the local pawn shops today, and they seemed sure that if someone brought things in to sell that they could run it through a system you have up there that will flag them if those items have been reported as stolen?! Sounds like a fantastic system if it works that well! Not sure how long it takes the police to get the list of items into the system?

The officers recovered a video from the lobby of the hotel I believe, and they were the ones that told us the description of who they were looking for from that video. We have not seen the video or images ourselves.

They weren't caught in the act...trust me, my husband is 6' 2" and a stout 300 pounds (and his father is about the same...as well as a boxer), so if they had been caught in the act, their faces likely would have looked more like hamburger after the guys were done with them

The officer's are the ones that have given us that description. Talked with the officer in Edmonton today, and they say that the vehicle was also involved in a hit & run at a seperate location as they tried to stop and see what was in the trailer, but the home-owner turned on their lights to see who was outside, and they took off, hitting a fence in the process. So they now believe it was a white SUV (possibly a Ford) because they left their bumper at the scene of the hit & run. They didn't say anything about seeing a license plate though, or I'm sure they would have that information out.

Someone had to have known what was in the trailer. Was the trailer marked in anyway on the outside indicating items inside? Decals, stickers, sponsors, ect? If not I would guess that the thieves knew that there was something of value in there. I would back track your travel route as to where you're husband and father were open about what was in the trailer for eavesdroppers. On the top of my head I'd start with trying to talk to Cabelas and post the info there or have them forward it employees emails. Get the info to the gun library there. And as far as the hotel I'm sure their employees already know. Basically to me it sounds like an 'inside' job, employee over heard something. Or, a D-Bag eavesdropper at one of the places your husband visited took their idea to their buddies. I know Colleagues who have set up similar situations as a sting to catch suspected employees and or thieves who local certain areas. Good luck and I'm very sorry you had to go through this while visiting our great country.

This has actually crossed our minds as well...we even wondered about the hotel staff maybe?! No, the trailer was a beige inclosed, but it did have a tribal design with an American flag on it. And the truck was a brand new truck...so maybe they thought that there MUST be something good inside?! They didn't do any shopping in Canada before they stopped in Edmonton (at least not that I know of), but that is definitely a possibility that someone could have heard them speaking of their hunt. The hotel choice was random as they just drove until they got tired, and turned in to the closest hotel.
I didn't think to get the information to Cabella's employees, that's a good idea as well. I will contact the store and see what can be done. They may have someone in there scouting out to see how much things are worth to sell?! Hell...maybe they don't care of the worth and will sell it for anything?!

I know many here would like to catch them for free! Hopefully you find them. As has been said, I'm so sorry for your hubby's experience here, and I hope it doesn't detract from him coming again. All in all, we're good folk here and this is a horrible example of our country.
