What do you set up inside your portable icehut?

Recently bought a 6 man icehut and am curious as to how others set up the inside of their portable icehuts to make life easier and more comfortable for the hours we hang out inside there. Thanks!

a stove for shore lunch and a chair and a table and a camera maybe a bed for my dog if its cold

OK..writing this down...heater..bar..table/chair/camera..dog pad for dog,wife or kids...Ok..that is starting to take shape. Do I find that portable icehut bar in bass pro or maybe cabelas??

Holes in each corner. Rods along the sides of the tent. Clothes and food stuffed on one side. Heater in the middle

Enough of these to cover the ice except your holes.

I set up the following:

Wood floor
1-3 propane heaters depending on the temperature
An electric fan/light to keep air moving
chairs
Two underwater cameras that sit on upside down milk crates
1 flasher on occassion
1 mini DVD player to watch movies
tackle boxes
Fish bucket
1 dead stick for my extra hole.
i also have a cooler that the dvd player sits on

DK, with the holes in each corner, do you have your chairs in the middle or whereabouts do you sit? Those mats are a great idea Adversecity.

wow hockey...do you get all that in a portable icehut? DVD player is good idea for long days with little action.

Yep 6 man pop up. sets up and takes down in like 5-8 minutes from start to finish. Fits 3 guys easily. gets cramped with 4. 90% of the time its just 2 guys in the tent so there is lots of room.

LOL...wetchimo, sitting back and drinking and watching DVD's...hmmm maybe I should just set the hut up in the livingroom and tell the family Im fishing and not to disturb me!

2 edges have rods, the other 2 edges you sit on facing the middle. worked well last time.

Propane heater, coleman stove, filet knife, fry pan, small pot. Cajun fish crisp, small bottle of cooking oil, garbage bag, a bio bag, small cooler, and a
5 1/2ft aluminium camp cot, I-pod with the small detachable speakers. I set up the cot to sit on as well as a place to put your clothes, gloves etc. We have fish/filet competitions to see who can get a fish out of the water and into the pan first. After a good meal of fresh fish and a couple of hot rums the cot is a great place to lie on and catch a couple of Zees. Use a Strike Alert over the hole, when the buzzer goes off it's time to pull fish.

actually bring a nice size cooler it can double a seat or cooking platform for the grill and the coleman grill and some steak or kabob's and a kettle for some hot drinks is a great idea !!

Wow. What if you have to move? Or just deal with crappy fishing all day but be comfortable. For me it's auger on front quad rack and a quick flip 3 in tow. Very mobile!

If I set mine up and turns out I'm in a bad spot, I just move. Only takes 10 minutes. And quicker with more help. You can also leave it set up as a base camp and move around if you want. At least you know you have a warm cozy retreat if you get cold on the ice.

yup set up and then just go outside. or put one rod with a bell outside and sit inside haha

I believe most everything you'll need is pretty much covered .... except:

Supply of spit's.

5 gal pail with lid that I fill with water to keep my fish from freezing on the ice, much easier to clean them afterwards.

Old TV Table that I use for my camera, coffee, bait, hooks, lunch etc to keep my stuff off the ice.

Small roll of duct or electrical tape for minor repairs.

Ice cream pail that I use to skim/scoop any ice chips out of the holes, as well the pail has dual use when your Mrs or G-friend joins you and needs to go then asks where's the Kleenex ?

Coleman chair with built in drink holder and side table
Thermos of hot chocolate
Cooler with pop and sandwiches
Big bag of miss Vickis
Electronics for both of us
2 double wide holes
Big buddy heater to make us toasty
Black matts as above on the floor to keep the feet warm
phone out to keep in contact with the rest of the world
Ipod playing music
Rod in rod holder clamped to the chair.
Sit and wait or grab rod and jig the bait.
Another hole outside the tent that seems to get more action than inside some days.
Drill another hole and attach string to the sled and keep the fish we catch nice and fresh and not froze solid for the trip home.
Gut the fish before we leave the lake
Get home and set up my homemade fillet table in garage and skin the fish.
Grab a nice cool refreshment and discuss the day.

Ya i know more than the title but what the heck might as well go for it.

I can be on the move in as little as 5 minutes and set up in like 8. Id be set up faster if i didnt drill six holes everytime.

Man, some of you guys bring a lot of crap ice fishing with you....

On what few occasions I use it.. the ice hut. And inside that is me, 2 rods, flasher and tackle box....

How many trips do you guys make back and forth to your vehicle for all this stuff when you cant drive on the ice?

This is how I setup my hut for a weekend trip. I haul it all out behind the quad with a one man flip over in tandem when i want to move around when the bite is slow

Quad/sled with a quick fish. Heater, flasher, tackle, lotsa rods, tip-ups and auger. I can move 30 ft in under 4 min! I like to stay mobile.

For early season, before the ice is thick enough to drive on I harness up my two retrievers to the jetsled with all my stuff. They can pull it and me no problem. Nice thing about the dogs is they never break down.

Nice lists guys. That helps tons in figuring out a setup that suits me. Still looking for the icehut bar that Bushmaster suggested, but cant find one anywhere on Cabelas or Bass pro. Shrug. Looks like getting stuff up and off the ice is a major part of the setup.

The mats make a huge difference. I also have 2 shelves that hang on the side.

How do you motivate them to pull? Lol I have a Yellow Lab and the first thing she would do is lay down, and give me the WTF look.


My list:

3 lawn chairs
Milk crate that holds my augur powerhead gets flipped upside down and portable ipod speakers put on it.

Box with my tackle trays, pliers, tape measure and scale

Two sunflower heaters (fishing buddy has one, I have one), One in each end of the tent keeps it toasty.

Small bag or cooler of snacks and sandwiches.

Those milk crates look to be a pretty hot item in alot of peoples set ups! will the grocery stores just hand them out?
