My Savage 7mm-08 likes Hornady 140 gr. GMX and IMR 4895. Shots are limited to 250 yards to ensure bullet expands on impact (minimum 2000 fps required). Accuracy is limited by me.
I like the GMX because I can work up loads and practice with 140 gr SST, then switch to GMX for hunting with minimal change in POI.
I work up loads with 139gr SSTs then i go hunting with them Only hunt deer with my 7-08 tho
My other load considerations were 120gr. BT or 120gr. TTSX over VarGet or 139gr. Interlocks.I just happen to bump into a great deal on 200 of the Speer's.
Speer make a fine hunting bullet, I use them in several rifles, and my go to powder in 7mm-08 is most always Win 748 powder. It gives adequate velocity and excellent groups with bullet weights ranging from 110gr to 140 grain....FS
I have had superb results with RL-19 and 140 grain Accubonds. Previous owner (someone I know and trust) found that RL-17 and 139 grain Barnes LRX were also excellent shooters.
