Where do you buy gear these days?
I'm not sure if the supply chain issues are over - or ever will be. I want to get a new baitcasting rod/reel because I've never had one. With gas being so expensive - I dont go out window shopping much anymore.
Do you guys notice a big difference in pricing/ inventory between Cabela's, Bass Pro, Fishin Hole, Canadian Tire, Amazon...
I'm in Calgary but Edmonton is probably in the same boat.

Fishing hole is #1 option, folks there actually have local knowledge. Cabelas #2, Can Tire is last resort.

Honestly just hop online and shop. Most of the tackle and gear comes out of or through the USA so buying direct is often cheaper but you may have to source a particular item a few times before buying. Always buy new and always read reviews. I have found a couple of sites for my walleye tackle and frankly no one local even comes close. Good luck!

I am in Rocky so window shopping is not an option. I decided to replenish a lot of my basics so started looking online. Fishin Hole is the best you can do. Their prices are usually better then the rest and the variety beats everyone else. I put an order in late Sunday night and got a message this morning that the items have shipped. Will probably get here tomorrow.
On top of great prices, they have free shipping if your order is over $99. Cabelas is $150 and their selection is mostly what they want to sell you.

I make a large portion of my lures so ordering supplies from a bunch of places
Stuff I buy otherwise can be from anywhere I get close too that sells fishing gear. If it is something special I may order it online

TFH and Cabela's are staples for me up in Grande Prairie. But I also order a lot of stuff from other specialty shops like Pokey's Tackle in Regina or Thorne Bros. in MN. I also buy direct from manufacturers like rapala.ca several times a year.

TFH for me alot of the time, but their site is total junk so I'll often start looking elsewhere if I get annoyed enough. Cabela's isn't bad. Fred's Custom Tackle in BC is another one I go on occasionally. I've started going direct to the manufacturers when I can. I bought my last 3 fly rods straight from TFO.

I agree TFH website is terrible. They actually have good filters - like rod weight etc but its not aesthetically pleasing.
I never really thought to buy direct from the manufacturer - not a bad idea.
I still feel a moral desire to support local which is why I like smaller shops like Fish Tales Fly shop in Calgary. I dont feel as bad for the big box shops.

I watch pricing. Being that I have to travel significant distances to buy stuff, I tend to do a lot of online shopping. Cabelas, TFH and Amazon are the usual haunts. I just went to move my tackle bag today and noticed the bottom rotting off. It was a PLANO tackle bag that I could fit 5 X 3600 trays into and had other zippered pockets, it had a shoulder sling. It's now in the garbage. Replaced it just now with this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08...age&th=1&psc=1

I really miss wholesale sports. Buy mostly online for now. Amazon is very expensive IMO.

Got two small local shops that I hit up.
Ohh I poke around bigger retail places and cruise the net but that’s just for information gathering.

Try the acme website. I used it before to order a bunch of google eye jigs when they were a brand new thing and it was an easy process.

I did. No luck. That’s when I thought I might have a problem, when the supplier was out of stock.
