Ozone Generator
Hi,
I was looking at getting a ozone generator, they seem like a easy way to keep your hunting gear scent free, or as close as one can get. In the past I have tried to mostly hanging my gear outside or giving it a wash, but that can mean a lot of unnecessary washing through the season.
Some will say to just keep the wind in your face. Even though I know areas I hunt pretty well and what the wind will do throughout the day, in the mountains sometimes it still surprises you.
Has anyone tried one of the cheaper models not geared towards hunting? You can find them on Amazon and make the idea of using one more entertaining.
Cheers,

Yeah I do know that. I have no intention of over using it, but figured throwing it into a Rubbermaid with my gear might simplify things.
What are people doing for scent control?

You will never, ever hide the scent coming directly from a human. This idea is pure marketing. You can however minimize the scent you leave behind.
For stand hunting: Wash your stuff in scent free detergent, wear fresh base layers every time (have several sets) wash outer layers 2-3 times a season, and spray your boots with scent killer every day. Those things do help, they still know you’re around but it takes the deer a little longer to figure out where the stand is.
In the mountains you sweat (and cook, clean, crap, and camp) so it’s pointless to even think about it.

Actually.....
I’d skip the scene killer stuff.... just collect the tree stuff that’s like the stuff around where you hunt (in my case pine, spruce, n poplar, pack your washed layers and hunting footwear-outerwear in a bag with this stuff....
Leave it outside...... the plant scent will infuse nicely and it’ll help you for a little while.
But really..... it’s totally about knowing wind and playing it to your advantage.
That’s a skill and it’s everything.

Eliminating scent ain’t easy... if you can reduce your scent by 60% you’ll have a 60% better chance of getting closer or maybe get 60% closer. I don’t worry about it for rifle hunting but bowhunting I sure do.
If you have a Pop up ground blind with ozone generator and all the gimmicks I doubt that it would be even a bit more effective than walking into a natural ground blind with the wind right and just sitting. Setting up in an unobtrusive
Manner in a fresh unhunted spot probably trumps everything.

Only way to reduce human scent is to stop breathing. That is where the majority of human scent come from.

I’ve heard that before but it doesn’t make sense to me... have you ever smelled you self after a day of hiking?

Sure breath might Disperse more widely simply because of the volume...but do we really know how “scent laden” it really is? And a good arguement that it’s “impossible” to Contain scent which I don’t accept. I used to use a military chemical suit, and extreme measures at scent containment, I’ve had deer literally right next to me and I didn’t stop breathing to do it either.
I don’t bother now because I can shoot my bow more accurately and I can stay further away so don’t need to go to all that trouble.

The way I treat it is that it can't hurt to take care of your scent.
